Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of October (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have October ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in October, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

I get to join you all. My son has an  Oct 3 date.  Craig, thank you for your SEAL info and input.  In this world you can't seem to get enough.

Thanks for the information Craig.  My SR leaves 10/30.  He has signed to be an AZ.  I'm wondering the same as KelleyM and can you explain "push division"?  Thank you!

Craig - My son leaves on Oct 29th also.  If week 8 start on December 24th would PIR probably be that following weekend (29th or 30th)?

Comment by Craig on July 6, 2012 at 2:34am

They usually get there Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

I had a boot camp question. Do they start a new boot camp every day or will some of these kids leaving in the same week possible end up in the same division?

Comment by Craig on July 4, 2012 at 3:08am

FTLW - I have a depper on my website that leaves Oct 29.   His 1st week of training should be Nov 5th...  If so, he will complete his 7-5 day on Dec 21. He should be in a "push" division. (if I'm counting it correctly).

What do you think?  Check my number if you don't mind.....

Nov 05 - 1st week
Nov 12 - 2nd week
Nov 19 - 3rd week
Nov 26 - 4th week
Dec 03 - 5th week
Dec 10 - 6th week
Dec 17 - 7th week
Dec 24 - 8th week

One more question - any SR's from NE Ohio leaving 10/30?  Haven't found anybody yet on Ohio Navy Moms.

Comment by MamaKrayKray on June 27, 2012 at 9:58am

Good morning B'snukemom & everyone!  In reading through some of the comment walls in this group & other groups I belong to, I see alot of mom's gathering items for BC departure for their SR.  I found two lists on the Recruit Training Command site of what to bring & what not to bring.  Straight forward & basic.  Is there a list anywhere else?  Some discussion threads are talking about white boxer shorts? & various other items, none of which I see listed on the RTC site. Also is there a good site for information/recommendations re:  banking (I don't believe we have a Navy Federal Credit Union locally)  Also, my SR brought up voting in the upcoming Presidential election - how is that handled at BC?  Absentee ballot - does he handle that locally before he leaves? Sorry these questions all seem random but pretty sure I'm not alone : )

Good Monday Morning All!  I can't believe we are almost through June.....it has seemed like it has taken forever to get to this point, but now I realize October is almost here!  They are opening a new Navy Federal Credit Union near us (today) so I guess it's time to get my son over there to open his account.  Have a great day everyone!

MamaKrayKray - I hope there are enough layers out there for me to dress in!  My family (hubby and 2 boys)  tease me because I am always so cold!  But I figure I will be "warm with pride" at PIR so I will be fine.  Besides after my son has gone through 8 weeks of BC the least I can do is "suck it up" and deal with the cold in Chicago!  4 months until he leaves - and his 23rd birthday was yesterday.  Still lots of time, but I know it is going to go fast.......
