Joanne - I'm so glad you have had several phone calls from Kevin. I got one more call than Lori when Joey was in boot camp - a total of 3.  I got a short one in the middle of boot camp.

Betsy - I hope things are slowing down with the 'cougar'. That would be good news :)

No news yet from Joey but he should be taking his oral boards soon. If all goes as planned, he should be home for Thanksgiving.  He will go back to Ballston Spa for about a week and then come home until he has to report to Washington sometime in January. I think this will be the last time we have everyone home for the holidays for awhile so I plan to enjoy it! Luckily the air fare from Albany is reasonable.

Joanne, Oh my goodness, I would definitely have been in tears at that sight.

Joanne, I can imagine that you are feeling poor, but also very happy!  Sometimes, it just what you need to do and bite the bullet and go for it!  I'm so glad he will be able to have Thanksgiving with you.  Woohoo!

I'm going to try to make that recipe too, it sounds good.

Joanne, Wow!  That is so awesome that he is able to call you.  I bet it does help him as much as you.  ((Hugs))  I've always heard that rumor about the food too, but did just think it was a rumor.  I noticed that you did approve my friend, Denise on your FB.  She has a son in the Army.  Did you also request Lori Jo Upleger as a friend on there?  I sent you her FB link.  She is my boot camp mom friend who also has a son in the Navy and a son in the Army and she said she would love to get to know you.

Well, I'm thinking that things may be slowing down with my son's "Cougar".  I was telling Adam online about my neighbor enlisting (she also wants to go into Cryptology, which is Adam's rate) and the first thing he asked me was if she was cute, lol.  I know my son and believe me, if he is in a serious relationship, he is very loyal and wouldn't even care about another girl.  I am hoping that this means that they are now history or at least heading in that direction.  :)

Joanne, I can't believe Kev gets to call you so often. What a difference from the Navy! The whole time Paul was in bc I got 2 calls. One was the scripted "hi I'm here" and then the next one was when we were already in GL for his graduation when I got the call "I'm a sailor." That was it the whole 7 weeks he was gone.

By the way- they don't put anything in the food. I know that has been circulated since there has been a military but the truth of the matter is that without going into all the specifics the food is NOT tainted with hormones or anything else. I looked it up and also asked a top Army guy. There are reasons for why the guys think there is food but it's better if you look it up and read about it!

If Kev is living on rice [ white presumably?] and salad he's not going to "get things moving" if you know what I mean. But once they start the intense training and they eat because they are starving things will "work their way out!"

The stress and strange conditions and yucky food all play a role in it but trust me - it won't be for long and the bowels will do what they are intended to do!!!

Lori, thanks.  We had a great lunch and my friend Halle said there was so much that she didn't know.  Her daughter is 23 and she's really excited about it.  She takes her ASVAB next week and has her physical set up at MEPS for next week too.

Joanne- you have our support. I remember the waiting. Can't forget that time. Going to the mail box every day just hoping for that letter! Devouring it like a lifeline to my son. Trying to read in between the lines wondering how he REALLY was.

Betsy- I'm sure you will be a great source of info for your neighbor. How old is her daughter?

Ladies, I'm having lunch with my next door neighbor today and her daughter.  Her daughter wants to enlist and is seriously considering the Navy.  She wants to talk with me.  We may soon have another Maryland Navy mom at our lunches.  :)

Joanne, ((hugs)) unload away!  We are here for you.  That's so good that he can call again tomorrow.

Linda, Good luck to your son.  Keep us posted on how he does.  My prayers are with him.

Joanne - the pictures of you and your son are great, especially the cotton candy ones!

My son should be taking his oral boards soon. I looking forward to getting the call that he is is certified to do whatever he does with nuclear reactors!
