I am a she and leaving this in the care of my mom so she can talk to other mothers while I'm away so if you could recommend any groups for me to join for her it would be great! She is really worried about my leaving and talking to other mothers might just sooth her worries

soeacho- do you have a son or daughter going? Have you joined the boot camp group? We haven't had any new moms on here in a long time so welcome! How are you doing with your child leaving soon?

Linda- that's great that he loves it. As the time draws closer to Paul leaving to return to base I know he's wondering what to expect as they fly him out to the carrier. I'M trying not to worry about it!

Lori-My son loves the Nuke program.  He initially thought he might try for the Naval Academy option, but now he just wants to finish school and get out in the fleet.  Joey thinks there is a chance he will go to NY, but nothing is definite.  He's hoping that grad hold is not too long. We're already making plans for his graduation since it is on the Memorial Day weekend!

Is anyone from Maryand have someone shipping the 7th of February?

Linda- sounds like the Navy! That is a long school Joey has to do. Paul's was long too. A school and then C school took over a year [ plus the holds]. So you don't know whether you will be going to NY or SC in May? At least the weather will be nice which ever one it is! Is he happy to be doing the Nuke program?

Joanne- sorry your boy hasn't contacted you :(

Loir - Joey is in the Nuke program and has 3 different schools to complete.  Power School is the second one and for some reason, his class is completing the 6 month program in 5 months.  He is in Goose Creek, South Carolina now.  The last school is Prototype and he could stay in SC or go to New York - he won't know where he will go for awhile.  We're starting to make plans for graduation because it will happen on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend.

Cindy, I'm glad your Paul got to be home for his birthday. My Paul did too [his is the 21st]. And I know what you mean- Paul has spent most every night at the station too! He has been assigned to the USS Carl Vinson a carrier. It's in the Pacific right now so he will be flown out there when he goes back. Sometime this month is all he knows.

Linda- what is Power school? Glad you had your son home too. Where is he based?
