Trina - congrats to her.  Now is she staying a MN?

My son's reenlistment is coming up, but he is hoping to switch to something else. When I get details of the something else - I can share.

And thank you - I didn't even remember about adding the name to the credit cards, etc.  Weekend coming and i am going into relax mode -

Congrat again to your daugher.

MN Moms/Spouses/Girlfriends,

My SA graduated from boot camp on 3-11-11. He's in GL for ATT school and will eventually go to Point Loma, CA. I truly appreciate all the information and advice that you've shared.

It's wonderful to learn that your MN's in Japan are well!

Hey JeriLynne

So glad you posted here. Sometimes I am a lost at words to share with the new MN moms.

Jeri and Donna and Gilda - I hear you all laughing - stop laughing becuae I said " I was at a lost of words'?

Sorry New Moms - usually that is not a problem for me. But I was caught up with making sure my sailor was safe - checking in with Gilda and JeriLynne and Mark too.  All our kids are on the same ship- stationed in Sasebo, Japan

Update - our kids adn their ship is safe and sound.  Thankyou

( Note: Donna has a MN sailor too - just not on the same ship)

But I agree - welcome to Navy Time   And as long as you  have sailros - you never can be for sure about things.

Questions I have you New Moms:

1. Does yous sailors have their civilain US Passports?  If not - get them Now!!!!

yes it is important to have them.  Example: if your sailor wishes to go on leave - like to China - he has to have that passport.  Your sailor would be entering that county as a civilain - not military.  That passport allows your sailors to visit places and get off a ship if needed to be transported to a different country.

2. POA - Power of Attorney of finanaces and health

3. Insurance - my sailor has the USAA.  It is for the military. And it is so reasonable One factor why my sailor likes it - he had to sell his car - he just did not want to be left with car payments and insurance payments while over seas.  Besides it would be stored for over 3 years.! This USAA insurance has a policy to keep his car insurance on hold for only $5 a year.  This way if he is able to rent a car in another counrty or back in the states - because he DOES HAVE Car insurance.  Then  when he gets a new car - they start up his regualar insurance again  Nice :)

4. Incourage you guys NOT to purchase extra life inurance.  My sailor said that at BC and even in A School - the instructors were trying to tell everyone NOT to  do this. The Navy has given you a good life inusrance policy.  My son called to tell me that the Navy had insured him for a heavty amount too!  And that he placed my name first to get the money if anything happened.   He was so proud of himself.  I thank him for thinking of me and told him if anything did happen that now I could go and cry in Maui.    His words: "haha- very funny Mom "

Well - I though Maui was nice - any other suggestions of where?

Ok - I found my words.  Hey Glida , JeriLynne, Donna, Mark  - any other suggestions for our new Moms?  Wait a mintue where  is Trina?  She has good advice and fun stories to share too

Wish you all a good day.  Hang in there - you will havea roller coaster ride for next few years .  Promise - you will do great.  Your love for you sailor gets you through and then gossiping with us helps :)

 Hugs

Good news!  My son moved to another ship and is suppose to start class today!
Comment by Nick's mom (Ship03Div087) on March 16, 2011 at 1:36pm

Hopefully not.  They probably can't give an accurate time frame, so maybe just tell them up to a year at the latest.  idk  They could possibly be in the same class.  And, I'm not sure how many it takes to fill a class up.  Anyone know?

I was hoping he gets to go to San Diego this summer cause I wanted to make a trip to that area.  And, he really is excited to be going to San Diego!  We will just have to wait and see.

My boyfriend graduates 3/25 and he has to wait in GL and then go to San Diego. Could they really be waiting for a year?? That is crazy!

Hi all!  Just wondering if anyone has a sailor waiting in GL for ATT school to start?  My son Nick told me yesterday they were waiting for a class to fill up for him to start ATT school.  I asked if they gave him a time frame on how long it could take and they told him anywhere from 1 week to 1 year!  Wow!  So, I was wondering if anyone else has a sailor waiting to start school too.  And, if not how long it took for their school to start?  He graduated 3/4/11.  I think there was one behind him on this site and maybe one or two that graduated a few weeks before my son.  Anyway, just curious!  At least he gets paid still.  lol  He said it wasn't too bad, a little boring at times, but there was plenty to keep him busy and entertained.

HI Donna

Sure does sound like you are going to be a Military Mom.

Yes, this network is a life saver - emotional andliterally at times.

So glad one got to come home.  Collect those hugs.  Fingers crossed other one in Bahrain is safe and cominghome soon.

Kinda numb here - on teh Japan site - things are still hopping with emotions.  Some of the moms still have not heard from their sailors.  That is so hard to hear.  All we can do is hope that soon they will and send them cyber hugs.

Need to get -  it is a cold day  here.  Funnything - our city is having it's St.Patrick's Day parade.  Hope the goers all have some hot chocolate or hot butter rum after!

Take care and I'll share when I hear from my sialor :)
