GGod Morning :)

So glad you came on YMM.  And that you have found a fellow Mom with a sailor graduating the same time.  Maybe your sons will be meet up.

Nick's Mom - hoe the site helpsyou out.  But always some on the site and talk - we listen to each other and do our best to find answers.  And sometimes it is just nice to talk with other moms that have the same feelings.  Wish all a very good day :)

Nick's Mom, My son's PIR is 3-11. He will also train to be a mineman. From what I understand, the MN's stay at Great Lakes for ATT (Technical Training), then on to A School and C School. My SR wrote that his A School will be in California. There is a Navy Mineman site on Facebook where you can get some information.  http://www.facebook.com/search.php?q=us&init=quick&tas=sear...!/group.php?gid=56895808819

Hi everyone!  My son graduates March 4th and as far as I know...he will be a Mineman.  I haven't heard otherwise at this point.  He did say in his last letter that he stays in GL for 8 weeks.  I know he is disappointed to be staying there, but I heard he would for Electronics school.  Is this correct?  I'm new to this Mineman stuff, so any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Sorry Spencersmom - Its the Navy - Its Navy Time and that simple means - Maybe.

Wish I could give you a straight answer, but I can't. My son's  times of travel or getting to come home did dhange at times.  You just have to wait and see.  And your son should be able to wear civilian clothes soon at GLs.  Just has to earn that level of the Chit Card.  ABout coming home between A and C School - mine did get a two weeks. Or was that 3 weeks That way he got his personal items to go with him. My son was able to dirve his own car and have it on base.  He had to get permission and have his inusrance too.  He has the USAA Insurance - they are GREAT to have for military serving !  Hope this helps.

Have to share :  I received a package today !!!  Just for me from Japan!!!

My son sent me my birthday gift - ( its next week)

I received a lovely purple dragonfly kite and 3 penny press coins from China.  He wished me a Happy Birthday - so happy that he had found those penny press machines and misses me.  I am taring up here - my baby misses me.

need to rush off - finishing dinner here  Hugs

Happy Valentines Day to you as well.  I am I wrong to assume that if he is going to be in GL until March 30th he may not have earned the right to wear civilian clothes until he gets sent to San Diego for the remainder of his school?  Also do they get to come home between his A school in GL and his A school in San Diego or do they have to report immediately?  Have any of you had this experience?

HI

Happy Valentine's Day :)

Trina - congrats to your daughter .  I am confused though.  You shared her departmetn won teh Battle E.  Didn't the rest of the ship earn it too?  I know air craft carriers are big, but I thought it was an entire ship that had to win.    And yes - my sailor is a Shell Back too .  He got dressed as a Bumble Bee for his day long " Wog to Shell Back " Event.  Funny, I was teasing him.  When he was 4 years old - he wanted to be a "Bumbling Bee" for Halloween.  He would say bumbling instead of Bumble.

HI Spencersmom,  Yes you can send clothing when your son has earned a chit or a level to earning a full chit card.  AS soon as my son had earned teh right to wear civilian clothing he sent us a list of EVERY piece of clothing he wanted !  You might have to wiat until he shares that he has earned that level and then send the clothing - just start laying out items you think he might ask for.  Then you can be ready to send them :)

Havea good day all
