Sorry it took me so long.
But for fun - just call the Red Carpet Inn and see if their is a differnce in the prices. If so - cancel the other one and get the better price and be CLOSER to the Great Lakes. Honest , if you cancel out your other reservation ( If you are able to get reservations with teh Red Carpet Inn( - the Springhill Suits WILL be able to book that room
Hi YMN
A fellow IL Navy Mom ( Laura) came through with the information about the hotel

Right next to this place is the hotel: The Red Carpet Inn

We did stay there and it was nice - food was GOOD too . And there is a gas station right around the coner Hope this is a help.
HI YMN and Donna
YMN - I am not sure of what ATT is. Myabe that is the new name for A- School. That is the only reference I ever had about the first classes that MN attend. Donna shared the answer :) She is a sweet lady.
Very happy to hear you received the box, YMN. I cried so hard when I received my son's box. I hugged his sweater.
Donna - do you know the name of the hotel with the Irish restuarant -right next door to it - that is just down the road form the Great Lakes base? I cannot remember . There is another Navy Mom on the Japan site - her son will PIR ( Pass in Review or graduate from BC) in March and I mentioned that as soon as she gets information about PIR to BOOK her reservations there!!! I thought YMN would like to know it too. We stayed there and it was nice - and very reassonalbe. But can't remember its name
Had a nice way to wake up this morning - my sailor called :) He is very tired - the ship is busy getting all the bugs out of the new systems. His ship was in dry dock being upgrades, repaird and painted. My sailor took many pictures of the ship in dry dock, he wanted to remember the ship looking clean. Also, he is trying to finish the last home work assignment in his class. He was able to take a class in Business from Maryland University. So he is drinking coffe to finish his paper. I guess he needed a Mommy Break - you know that call -" I'll complain to Mom, she will understand." I did and sent him hugs and my belief in him that he will get it all done on time and receive a very high grade for his hard work. I guess I should get a care package ready to send too.
Friends - I am taking a Me Day today.. I invite you all to join me and treat yourself special Hugs
T-Lynn, I am happy today. We received my son's box and form letter with a few words written by him. It was heartwarming!
I was told that mineman have to go to ATT school at GL too. Is that the same as A-School?
Thanks for the information!
Well, BC was 9 weeks
Then ASchool was about 3 months.
Then C School was another 2 to 3 months. After completeing C School they get assigned.
how you doing?
Hi And Welcome YMN,
So have you recieved the bos of his things yet? And be ready now to learn and wait.
He should soon be sending you an address for you to write him and then infomration about PIR - graduating from BT. AS soon asyou get that information - book a hotel nearest the Great Lakes imediately - if you plan on attending. I am trying to remember the the hotel just down the road from Great Lakes. After BC - he will attend A School - then go to C School ( no there is no B School- the Navy has it's own alphbet, times and seasons - explain that later) C School might be in CA, not sure though. Then after C School - usually he will get to come home for a few weeks and then fly to his asigned ship.
I'll share more later - hope this will get you started. Please ask questions and if need just share when you feel like it. Havea good day
