Supporting our military by way of cards, letters and care packages filled with love & support from HOME

This group is the perfect place to learn all the tips and tricks of packing and mailing care packages and most important, to make a difference for those serving.  PLEASE do introduce yourself in the Comments below!!

Click "NEW MOMS READ FIRST!" here or at right under Pages.  Everything you need to know!  Email newmoms@mollysadoptasailor.com with any questions.

Where is the monthly Adoptee Mailing Address?

To access the adoptees' mailing addresses, you first need to join this private group:  MAS We SHIP Love. Once approved, you can always click here for this month's ADOPTEE MAILING ADDRESS (We Ship Love)

Where is the information about this month's adopted unit or ship?

We provide information about each month's Adoptees and their Wish List in the Discussion Forum below.  For the mailing address, see link above:  Adoptee Mailing Address.

What are Packing Parties?

Ask if one is planned in your area, or hold your own with friends and family!  By carefully following a few simple rules and completing our forms, your group's shipping costs to that month's Adoptees will be paid by MAS (must be a group; individuals don't qualify).  To request information, send email to webmaster@mollysadoptasailor.com.  MAS can also provide you a letter with Federal Tax ID for requesting donations. There is some info. just to the right of this text-underneath the members photo's.. "Packing Party Information" ..Check it out.

What is the most critical or best thing you can send?  Your SUPPORT!

What counts here is the morale of our military and how we can boost it with a touch of love from home.  We have a great time here each month sharing, chatting, planning, packing and mailing our appreciation to our deployed.

Will you get a 'thank you' from the deployed military who receive your package?

We hope you do but can't guarantee it as they are engaged in their vital work and often in harm's way.  Include your email address in your note (best bet) or add a self addressed envelope (no need for a stamp on it) and paper and pen, and ask if a note is possible in your letter.  Replies and photos from our adoptee Point of Contact (POC) will be posted here and on our MAS Facebook page as they come in.

BOXES: Get APO/FPO large priority-mail boxes at your post office, OR call the USPS - 800-610-8734, say "Order supplies" and then ask for the Military Pack.  They'll send you six priority-mail large boxes for military, tape, and labels, all for free.  You can order cases of 10 and 25 online sent for free, too; choose size under "select format" at right on that page.  Send up to 70 lbs per box (that's 7.7 bricks!) at a discount of $2 below the regular rate.

Click here for your MAS (Molly's Adopt a Sailor) stickers.  Please print and add these stickers to your boxes - we get new adoption requests when these are seen on dozens of boxes in the mail!

Questions?  Please contact "PAT L in IL" at newmoms@mollysadoptasailor.com.  Pat is a wonderful source of information.  She can explain to you how MAS works and get you started.  We have a TON of fun here in our group every month, so jump in and get ready to rock with MAS!!

It's crazy. You know if you ship ground - not priority you still get a tracking #? Yea - very cool. Not that it really matters because it's only tracked to the military installation, not the actually person receiving, but it's better than nothing. Wanna hear something super cool though? So, I've been 'adopting' soldiers thru US Adopt a soldier as well. Have been for a while now, but have never ever heard from any of them - never. Not a note, card, thank you, email, nothing. I have continued to adopt them, because most of them I get are out in Kuwait or Afghanistan. Anyway, today I received a priority box in the mail from one of my marines. Initially I thought it was one of my care packages getting sent back to me. Then, when I opened it, it turns out he had a request put it and he had a flag flown for 24 hours over his compound in honor of our family for everything we have done for him and his group while he's been there, then he had the flag sent to me! I cried for 20 minutes. I felt so honored! Then he wrote me a very sweet letter about he he's kept all my cards and letters and stuff! Just had to share! Have a great night ladies, I'm heading out bright and early to go see my sailor!

Carol that is awesome! I know a few moms in WA! We are definitely a tight sisterhood!

I wish there was a way to track the packages too but I can only imagine how many go through the Fleet PO! Maybe a mom somewhere will find a way to simplify the process.

I called the post office because I was super distressed that my box had been apparently sitting in the US post office since Feb. 24th (I shipped on the 21st). What happens is that it gets scanned at the post office but maybe/maybe not at the ship. If the POC or any of the recipients don't tell you it arrived, you will probably never know.

Carol, Either it's a small world or you are getting famous!

This is from a friend, who works in insurance claims.  I live in Illinois.

I had the most amusing conversation with someone in our claims call center today. She asked me how our weather was here. I replied and then asked where she was from. She said WA. After she found out our agency was in Troy, IL, she replied that she had a friend in Troy. I asked who and was told "Carol". After another minute or two of conversation, she mention her friend Carol was a Navy mom like her. At that point I surprised the tar out of her by saying "your friend is Carol Pxxx isn't it!" She laughed and said yes, that she couldn't believe that we knew someone in common

KIm - Thanks. It just is frustrating when both were dropped off at the same time and going to the same location. I understand that over 10,000 packages (I'm told) go thru the sorting center, but still.

It doesn't help that a business size envelope to my daughter 5 hrs away in MI never arrived ---it had her tax forms to be signed in it.  So you can imagine what information someone else has...her SS# and her banking info, address.....

I always keep the tracking info. Unless they scan on there end it's almost hopeless to follow. I've tried to call & get relayed around till you hang up out of disgust. Truthfully if they aren't scanned the PO can't find them either. LOL. But I keep my fingers crossed and pray every month.

I used to never track my packages but started to after one got lost that I had tracked. My mail goes from my PO to the sorting one in OKC, then on to a bigger one before going on to the military mail. When I send multiple packages sometimes they don't always show that they were sent on after leaving OKC but I have had the PO look for them and they say that they are sent on just maybe not all scanned. The one that I had that was lost was found a month later. The PO had scanned the wrong zip it was going to but once I had them search for the tracking number it was located and sent on the next day.

I think all the Priority boxes are given a tracking number. I have the USPS app on my phone and I can scan the number myself and look for updates as to where it is. Or have the PO give you the number. If you feel that they are lost then call the 800 number and have them look for it. It's there job to get it to it's destination and we pay a bunch of postage to ensure that it does.
