While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Tammy-Andrew's Mom on January 18, 2011 at 12:14pm: The ship he is assigned to, is in the shipyard, so not alot for him to do. Sweeping, paint removal, etc. But he says he gets paid no matter what he's doing. :) A lot of the guys he went to boot camp with and A school are there too so he was happy about that.

Comment by Arwen on January 18, 2011 at 1:58am: There are few signing bonuses for anything right now. Bonuses are used as incentive for very high-scoring young adults to enter very demanding training programs that can last for up to two years. I think there may be one for nukes, and for fire control technician (maybe?).

There has never, to my knowledge, been signing bonuses for undesignated.

Comment by Arwen on January 17, 2011 at 11:50pm: My older son, Chris, is doing the undesignated thing right now, which doesn't look appealing to my younger son, Sean. The new jobs for the coming year open in October, so Sean is aiming toward going to MEPS at the beginning of October to get the best variety of options possible.

OTOH, Chris joined in August, and an IT slot just happened to open up while he was at MEPS (someone with an IT slot dropped out for some reason), and he got it.
