Sorry that the shopping was a bust and that they won't let her take pictures to help you all decide.  I guess the dress isn't as important as the marriage though.  Still It would be nice!

Dress shopping was kind of a bust.  According to dd, in Sicily it is "way different" than in the states -- haha, what isn't??

Sadly, it sounds as though whenever she goes again we will not be able to skype nor her text me pics because every place was VERY strict about no pictures whatsoever.  And, poor wifi/cell service will probably not allow for video chatting.  We'll see, i guess.

Thanks for the support, ladies!  Have a good day :)

Jn/Jf Mom- I'm sorry you are missing the Dress shopping.  Is she able to Skype you pictures of the Dresses she is looking at?  Congrats on the Wedding!  I'm also getting excited to go.  Only a month and a half away!!!! Nearly 3 weeks to see all of Italy with my sailor!!!

Hi everyone!  I'm a bit sad today, cuz our dd stationed at Sig is wedding dress shopping -- without me -- cuz i'm in the states  :(    The up-side is we get to go to Sicily for a wedding!!

I may be contacting you jboysmom for specific tips, advice & ideas.

So excited for you MattsMom -- it'll be great to get to see him in august.

Hi everyone. It's been 1 year and 1 month since I last saw my ATC. He is in Sig and loves it! So happy and has traveled all over Europe since he's been there. I am finally going to see him in August and I can not wait! I'm counting down the days :)

I'm glad to see some new posts in this group! My son has been in Sig for 3 years. He and his wife over it so much there that they put in for an extra year there! My husband and I visited them last July and it truly was a trip of a lifetime. We got to spend a month there (since they have a 3 bedroom town home, we stayed with them and didn't have to pay for a hotel, so we could stay longer. Travel is very cheap once you get overseas because you can fly on Ryan Air which is very cheap. We flew to Rome to spend 4 days but spent rest of time on the island of Sicily. You can get to the entire island in less than a day, so we took day trips to see different parts of the Island. My. Etna was my favorite. My son is now snowboarding on the top of Mt. Etna on the weekends - how cool to snowboard on an active volcano! Encourage you sailors to take advantage of the trips offered on base. We did several while there and it was great to ride a charter bus to sightseeing places, plus it was cheaper than renting a car. If you can make a trip to visit your sailor while they are at Sig, I HIGHLY recommend it!

welcome allie1928.  Sadly this group is very quiet.  I too would be glad for some activity .  There is more activity on the NAS Sigonella Facebook page.  My Sailor has been there 2 years now.  We are planing to go out there to see him in May.

Hello Babykatiebug, my son is also in Sigonella - almost 1 yr now. He loves it! He is traveling so much, seeing everything he can while he can. I plan on going over to see him in August this year. I can't wait. He's going to introduce me to his "Sigonella Family" and I am so excited to meet everyone. My son is an air traffic controller and is loving life!
