Good Morning and Happy Friday!

NonnaB - congrats to your nuke and DIL.  How sweet that they choose to honor MrB with his name for the baby :)  That speaks volumes for the kind of man he surely was <3  Keeping you and KAMmom in my prayers as this anniversary approaches.

JayDee - love the balloon pictures!  That would be amazing to look out the window and see these floating by.  On our 5th anniversary hubby surprised me with a balloon ride near San Diego. Definitely an adventure!

ProudofK - boy I will be glad when all this is over.  I'm hoping the house sells quickly.  The garage sale will be an adventure tomorrow.  They open up the gates to her community and let everyone in - apparently they do it twice a year and it's a pretty big deal.  Its' just one more thing on our "to do" list right now though....and I agree with you - I swear as we take stuff out of the garage/sheds someone is sneaking stuff back in!  I have no idea where all this is coming from :-/  I'm thinking we'll be doing the same thing - as soon as the house sells we'll be in panic mode to finish getting everything out lol!  Good luck with finishing up yours and enjoy your trip to GC!

Danny'sDad - your son should have some free time especially if he is getting there the week before the holiday weekend.  He definitely will have a curfew but if they don't mind they could probably at least take him out for a meal or two. (Of course, nothing is set in stone until he gets there lol!)

DannysDad - my son arrived at GC the weekend before LaborDay weekend - he was given some liberty time and that is when he actually went out and purchased his new laptop. If you read my discussion above (there are several posts within it) - Nuke A school Daily schedule - there is a post around Nov. that explains the various phases. My son had to be in his dress uniform, and he had a limit to the radius distance he could travel from NNPTC, but had Monday off as a holiday, along with Saturday and Sunday.

JayDee659 - Thanks for sharing the balloon pictures, my husband's grandfather use to fly balloons - this was a sweet reminder. Enjoy the horse races and the best of luck to your chosen one!

ProudOfK - I know all too well the issues of moving a houseful of stuff - and then we move and fill it up again!! My husband and I were evaluating our strategy last night for removing an item of furniture from our garage (from my mother's estate - that went to daughter - that came back after her marriage last June !) so that we can loan it to a single mom in need. The point was how to get it out of the garage and move the least amount of other stuff in the process!!

My nuke is scheduled to arrive at GC the week before Memorial Day weekend.  Does anyone know if they are allowed liberty the first weekend they are there?  I have family in the area that *might* want to visit him, but I don't want to suggest it to my nuke or them unless I know it would work.  I know they still have a curfew so he'd only be able to go out with them during the day.  Anyone have details about what to expect?

Most of you probably know about the Kentucky Derby - the most exciting 2 minutes in sports.  For those of us who live in the area, the race itself is just the culmination of two weeks of Derby festivities.  There are activities daily starting with the nations largest fire works display (truly amazing) last Saturday.  Today was the Great Balloon Race.  The breezes brought the balloons to our way and our office was treated to lots of beautiful balloons landing all around us early this morning.  I just wanted to share with you that it might bring you some of the joy it brought to us.  Also, there's a horse running this year named Lone Sailor.  Guess who my money is going on.. :).  He's had some great times in his warm ups.

Buzz beck and ProudofK, KAMMom and I both lost our husbands on the same day. I keep her in my heart.

I've been wanting to get on here and post for some time.  I've been following all of your posts - I've been happy with you all, sad with you all, laughed with you all and proud of our sailors as I've read your posts.  But I'm very seldom on the computer when I'm reading your posts and I haven't figured out a way to post when I'm on my phone and when I'm on my notepad I could post but it's much more difficult.

B'sNukeMom - I feel like I've been on a parallel path with you as far as your mother's move but it's been us moving.  We moved very close to the time you're mother moved and then we've been trying to get everything out of our old place (and in the middle of everything we had to have a new drain field put in).  Our house was on the market the whole time and now we are down to the wire this weekend.  We need to get the last of stuff from the garage and shed (how does so much stuff fit into a garage and shed that really don't seem that big - I think someone must go there when we're not there and put more stuff back in) this weekend, then we sign papers on Monday, the house should close sometime next week, then we leave for GC on Wednesday.  Makes my head spin.

JDubya'sMom - I believe it was you that I've been meaning to comment too - if I remember right your son has PIR this weekend and he is an ET.  My son's PIR was a year ago this weekend - he is an ET and now finishing Power School.  Enjoy PIR tomorrow!

Comment by ProudOfK on April 27, 2018 at 12:46am

NonnaB - I had the same thought that Buzzbeck did whtn I read your post - I was pretty sure that you and KAMMom had both lost your husbands within about a day of each other.  This must be a difficult time.  At that time my son was just graduating from bootcamp and now we're getting ready to go to his Power School graduation.

NonnaB: So good to hear from you. I recall you and KamMom going through the same thing 1 year ago. Congratulations to your nuke & dil. A new life, what a wonderful way to remember your husband.
