B's Nuke mom we enjoyed the horse racing museum there. Also Lake George is beautiful and I think it is only a little over an hour away. That is very exciting you will be there soon. Congratulations!!!

So we're heading to NY (Ballston Spa) for a few days at the end of next week to visit our sailor.  Anyone have any "must see/do" recommendations in the BS/Saratoga Springs area?  We probably are not going to make it into NYC - not enough time...however we are going to Cooperstown to the Baseball Hall of Fame! Any restaurant recommendations?

NJ Navy Mom - that's too funny about the furniture!

Congrats to all who passed their PS comps yesterday! Great job - Bravo Zulu!

To those who didn't pass remember it's not the end of the world (I speak from experience!).  They should get to recomp next week (unless they go before the AC Board this week).  My son recomped (back in December) the following week and passed along with ALL that had to recomp.  (I'm not gonna lie though it was a stressful week-for me!)  My son said he did about 70 additional hours of study to prepare but he said it was worth it!  He's now getting ready to start proto on Monday (hopefully if the date holds!).  So hang in there. No matter how it turns out - it's not the end of the world!

Ladies - try Old Navy.  This season you wouldn't believe how many red, white and blue items as well as anchor motif items they have.  I bought a couple of things for my son's girlfriend as well as for me and one of the girls I work with has a son deployed right now and before she went to VA to see the ship leave she went over there and outfitted the whole family.  And the nice thing - it doesn't break the bank!!

Britefuture - That is so funny about the furniture.  When my son got up to BS last year, he went on Craigslist and then he and his roommates went and picked up all the stuff.  I made him buy a NEW mattress so his roomies did that too but when I saw pics of the furniture they bought I couldn't believe it.  Then when I went and visited, it was even worse than the pictures showed!  A blue couch, a black futon, a pink recliner, and 2 yellow upholstered chairs!!  Then a few additional purchases later and what would have been the dining room houses a hammock and a hightop table with 2 high chairs.  BOYS - it's just unbelievable.  AND he's so proud of that place.  Last week he was trolling on Craigslist again and his latest purchase is a small bar with a mirrored front and the graphic on each door is an Egyptian looking puma!  Can't make this stuff up.  At least they're having a little fun with their home and with all the work they do they need that release.  I'm just waiting to see how much of that horrible stuff he's going to hang onto when he comes home.  I just know the Puma bar is coming home!!  LOL

Lands end has several cute things in Navy blue not to overtly patriotic, like navy flowers with white Capri pants. Or a lacy navy dress. And if you are not exactly a model shape like me you can get pictures of the item on a more full figure like I have.

I am already shopping for my son's power school grad. In August.

My son passed too, thank goodness, he's been beside himself with stress and worry since Saturday.  Today he called, convinced he'd failed, and furious at himself for letting all his hard work be for nothing.  We were back and forth all afternoon, finally he texted me his score -- he passed, not his best score -- did great in some subjects and not well in others, but as he said, who cares, he passed and let's move forward! He said there were a lot of kids who didn't pass, I think he was 73, which is a record.  The others agreed that the test was particularly brutal.  Congrats to all who passed and positive thoughts to those who are retaking comp next week.

And any Moms who feel the need, I'd love pictures of graduation, I believe Christy you said you were going to, any and all are appreciated!

Lots of great news today!  Congratulations to all of you moms and sailors.  The "Happy" song (from Despicable Me 2) is going around in my head.  :-)
