Janet - how exciting and proud you must be for your son. He must be doing very well to get noticed like that.

Betsyleebig - So sorry to hear what you are going thru right now. HUGS to you and your boy, the nuke program is very hard and stressfull. He is a smart boy he will figure out what to do; just give him love and space for now.

Son  called  last  night and  he  is  in  Utah  since  severing  ties with  the  navy  last  Thrusday. Some  of  my  proudest   moments   have  been  during  his  time  with  the  navy and  I  will  miss  this  experience  but   it  is  his  life  and  he   needs  to  lead  it.  I  want  to  thank  all  for  their  support the  past  2  years  and  wish  everyone  the  best  in  the  future.

Yay Baltimore/East Coast families. I knew we had to have some here.

Janet- That's exciting for your son ( and 9 other Sailors). Congrats to them and to you. I'm sure you felt an extra sense of pride when you got that news.

I also read about the Pig Roast. That's interesting! It's great to read that our Sailors are being creative with their time off. Not just sitting in their rooms playing video games.

I spoke to my son yesterday. He passed his driving test, yay. That's one more stress taken off of him (and me, shhh). He also went back to medical and finally, got a clean bill-of-health. Stress # 2 off. He said that PS starts next week. I haven't heard anyone, here, mention it. So, now that he can drive his new car without one of his "Buddies", he said that he was gonna take some relaxing day trips, by himself. To clear his mind and prepare himself for the next chapter.

My son called today to tell me that he was selected along with nine other sailors from his class to have lunch with the Commander in Chief and the Captain in Goose Creek.  For a moment I thought he was having lunch with THE Commander in Chief, aka The President, but it was not THAT Commander in Chief.  He was very excited about it and said he enjoyed his lunch with the VIPs.

AmyS - my son is an ELT and went directly from prototype to ELT school.  He got time off when he finished ELT.  I don't know if this is how it always works and if my son finished proto just when ELTs were classing up.

britefuture - I am originally from Baltimore and moved to Richmond before my navy son was born.  He is currently stationed in Norfolk.  Most of my family still live in the Baltimore area.

Hey pietschie - I asked my son yesterday about the pig roast - he said it wasn't his class that did it, but he had heard another class was doing it and he thought he heard it turned out ok.....

1proudmama, never been to Action Park but I have gone to Mountain creek, love that place.

The Jets were horrible to Tebow, they only got him to enhance the team's profile in the area dominated by the Giants.
