hello all!

ctav--maybe the private study time she gets will help her to keep up with the class that she will join.   my son wasnt crazy about the study hours, but he was greatful for them when test times came.

karen--- welcome!   are you going to PIR?

ctav01, I understand about all that "desk time" making her crazy, however, that's how it is at NNPTC. That's why they call it the "soul sucking Rickover." Hopefully, she'll get into the groove and those mandatory hours may go away. BUT, she will need to be spending a LOT of time studying...A LOT! And the further along they get the more studying is required.

My Sailor will graduate boot camp Sept. 9, ship to Goose Creek on Sat, Sept 10 to begin A school as ET, so therefore I am a newbie who knows nothing except what I have been reading about what happens now.  All help is more than welcome and much apreciated.

William, sorry to keep harping on the same thing but I figured that since she had to wait two weeks in Goose Creek before starting class 1238, that 1237 would be two to three weeks farther along. And that 1239, which she just moved to, would be a week or more behind 1238 and that she would be working on material that she had already covered. But according to her, she'll have a week or more of private study and join 1239 when they've caught up to her and, if that's true, I'm missing the whole point of moving her back a class.

As for evening study, her grades slipped to the point where evening study for her was mandatory. Which is part of the reason she's doing so badly. She says sitting in a classroom for eight to nine hours a day and then having to go back in the evening for another three to four hours is making her crazy.

My son got two weeks of leave after power school.  I think this is typical.

Comment by seathesee on November 4, 2012 at 3:42pm

Jane, congratulations to your son.  Haven't spoken to my son for most of this past week so don't know if he is all over and done as well or still awaiting boards.

good morning all!!

i too am keeping all who were affected by sandy in my prayers.

we made a trip to asbury park, nj when my three boys were small.   it was the first time they had ever seen the ocean.    my youngest didnt like it.  said it was too salty!  he was 3 at the time.  he is 14 now and loves the ocean.  they all go in the water when we visit my oldest son in gc.

Comment by MN Mom of MM on November 3, 2012 at 11:14pm

Prayers continue for all those affected by the storm.  Thank you God for healing the lives of the people and their communities.

On another note, my sailor in BS said all his signatures were complete and within 36 hours he had boards. Praying for all those BS and GC prototype sailors finishing up this chunk of school strong.
