Sherri,

Congratulations!  My son did the same thing in July.  My DIL has turned out to be an angel. I didn't know her well before the wedding and not being there for my son at the wedding hurt me deeply. But, time is healing that and they are very happy. My prayer will be that you are as lucky as I am!

Sheri- Tell your daughter get well from another cheerleader (some kind of trend we got here, huh?) I bet that flier feels super thankful for your daughter!

Thanks TC,  I have family in from out of town. I was hoping to get it before they left, but I guess that isn't going to happen.

Whoops! Nicole, I meant stand down.

Nicole.... you said that your bf classed up and starts class on Monday? You also mentioned that they were going to be on lock down through the week end. What exactly does that mean? We shared the same PIR date. My son hasn't classed up yet. I am hoping he hears something today.

Thank you everyone so much for your support. I really do appreciate it.

Will see son and DIL tomorrow, so will get to gauge how they are doing.  We also had a discussion with son awhile ago as to what to do if something happens to his paternal grandfather while he is in BC.  He asked that we not let him know until afterwards because his understandiing is that if he left for a funeral, he would have to start BC all over again.  I think we will revisit that conversation, but pretty sure he will decide to make the most of his time before BC and have no regrets if something happens during BC.

I do worry about DIL, she was close to her gpa.  In addition, her 18 yr old lil sis decided to jump the nest and move to FL 3 days prior to gpa passing, alot of vacancies in her life that will just be magnified when son leaves to BC.  But, I do think that she will get thru it, she seems pretty strong.

Thank you all.  I have actually never been part of a continually stream of conversation like this before.  Feels great to be able to visit, read, contribute and get tons of support.

Lets move away from my subject and discuss what?  cheerleading?  Wish I had something to contribute, but tried out in 7th grade, didn't make the cut and never tried again.  They didn't have elementary cheer like they do now

sherri- At least she caught the flier? haha. We always had 100 crunches when we dropped ours... Being a base sucks because of how much you get hit and punched and beat up. Not to mention how sore your arms get! But it really makes you so super strong. I miss cheer just because of how great of shape I was in!

Funny story: We had this guy on our team- he was like thirteen and at that awkward stage in puberty. I was 15 and finally starting to find my place in high school. Well, we were bases together. And he had an obsession with putting chalk on his hands and no one else ever did. I had a black shirt on that day... We put the stunt up and my shirt was clean. We caught our flier and after releasing her, the whole stunt group was interested in the two handprints over my chest from chalk. Hmmm. Wonder how those got there! hahaha

Can anyone remember how long it took to get the PIR DVD?
Comment by Sherri_M on August 11, 2011 at 9:39pm

Emily, have a good time with the family..you will have a very busy week!!

Off the subject a little, but had to take my daughter to cheer stunting class--she's a base and got hit hard in the face. Luckily the instructors had just taken her glasses off as they were learning a new stunt. She caught her flier, didn't let her drop, but got a nasty bloody nose and alot of swelling and bruising....and yesterday she had her booster shots..so now her arms and face hurt..poor thing..

Oh, in just a few days I will have a married son and a brand new daughter-in-love..got that from a dear friend of mine!  Looks like Tuesday is the day..she's flying there on Monday, they going down to do papework Monday and have the appointment to do the marriage on Tuesday.  Kinda sad as we won't be there..keeping it hush hush, only immediate family will know and as soon as he knows when leave is, or when he is being transferred to Pensacola, guess there'll be a "real" wedding....
