My son brought home a very soft little bear wearing a tshirt that says, "someone in the Navy loves me", and gave it to my 3 year old granddaughter. She kept showing everyone all day, saying, "Look what Uncle gave me!" She never puts it down. She's so precious. I am not biased at all.

Emily, I knew Navy Moms was the reason you wanted your computer; it's not sad, you've just got your priorities straight lol. The skype comment was an afterthought... ;)

CAnavymom, you'll love PIR, we want to hear all about it when you get back! Enjoy your vacation!

My son regretted that he wasn't it his best physical shape when BC started, he was already at good weight so that wasn't a problem for him. Sherri & Sharon, please stay... we all need each other, just try and imagine finding support like this anywhere else!  I love my N4M groups! I really don't think our kids understand how much it means to us and how it makes the days easier when we don't hear from them, because we hear from each other!  I love my son, but, his world revolves around him and only occasionally does it include me... his Mom.  Mr. Independent.  Okay, here is a photo of my "Sailor" from BABW.  Scrubby the Dog.

bandito's mom...

while michael was always ok with the weight (cause he's so tall), when it came down to it, unless he's WAY over weight that won't keep him from getting in at this point...when it came to it, the recuriter said he coulda went 10 lbs either way and been fine...IDK if that is true or not.  Michael was quizzed everytime he went to DEP meetings...and periodically the NUKE recruiter for the SE came in and quizzed him as well.  as long as he doesn't get into trouble, they will do whatever they have to so he goes in as long as he is classified a NUKE.  Always best to be prepared...of course, coming from a small town, our recruiting office may not have been as tough as those from larger cities...they did the run test a few times and until Michael came within about 30 seconds they yelled at him--well you know...they didnt' really yell, just told him he had to do better...but he was in CC in HS and ran...once he graduated he didnt run for 2 months, but only took about 2 weeks to get his run down again...

Son says he has meeting with Master Petty Chief for final ok before bootcamp (1.5 mos away) Been told that this guy has the power to revoke contract and has done so for others due to weight.  Son is within Body Fat Percentage limits but not weight limits.  Should he be worried?  Will they test or interview?  I told him he should go in like it is an interview and be very prepared, cram the last bit of the Gen'l Orders that he doesn't know and be gungho to be a Navy Nuke.  Any insight?

Elizabeth: BEQ--basic enlisted quarters (different services call them different things--AF called them basic airman's quarters and basic officers quarters--so sometimes I get the acronyms mixed up) and BAQ--basic allowance for quarters. If the base doesnt have space for housing on the base, then the military member is given a set amount of money to purchase or rent quarters off base. If the cost of living is above that amount, they are given a cost of living adjustment. Generally, the community raises rent prices to equal that of the COL allowance. That is known as living on the economy.
