Michimom, sorry to hear about the ruptured appendix.  But at least he got through and is moving on!  Right?

Reading through the last couple of pages reminds me that I do need to sit down with my sailor while he is home and talk to him about putting a bit more into savings and not spending as much on outside food !!!!  He says, however, that the food in the galley has lots of high fat and the only ranch dressing for salad is really, really, really nasty and hasn't gone back to the salad bar since then!!!  Guess it's some type of watered down fat-free ranch or something.  I say, use something else and save your $$$$.

dansmom - lots of good info & groups on the NY/Ballston Spa group.

elizabeth77nuke - if they want to save/earn money they can do it anytime-LOL - it just seems to burn a hole in their pockets - most of these guys are earning about $1500 a mth - they dont have to pay housing, medical etc.

PS - Steven passed boards, has PFA today & then just has to wait for prototype grad & then hes on his way home!!

Need info!! My son graduated basic last March (of 2010). He was a grad and go to Groton, CT to A school for nuke subs. He was running with his group when his knee popped and was diagnosed with a torn meniscus. 2 operations ago, he is still not all well. They are :talking: about letting him out on disability. Ne has never had the chance to BEGIN A school, but has been taking online classes while therapy is ongoing. Does anyone know if the Navy "cross trains" into other fields if he can't go sub?

Cardio and healthy eating! :) Doesn't matter how many sit ups you do, you have to get rid of the adipose (fat) tissue on top. 30 minutes of cardio a day, and moderation in eating is the way to do!! Won't get big results like biggest loser everyday, but slow and steady weight loss is the way to go...... 1-2 pounds per week is the way to keep it off long term! (Sorry, degrees in Kinesiology and Nursing, and my mom is a personal trainer with a degree in dietetics..... sort of my area! Check out my mom's blog for more info: http://moderation4life.blogspot.com/)

Like your rhyme by the way! :)

Dan's mom- Welcome to the NY club! Have you checked out the moms/dads/familes in Ballston Spa group? It's not nearly as active as this group though.

Emily- hmm that talk sounds familiar! I think the best and worst part about Jacob is that he always says "money is expendable. there will be more". It's nice when I'm freaking out about financial stuff and he's being chill. Not so nice when he goes out and buys all his little toys and all I can think is "really?". He's gotten MUCH better lately. It's so weird because when we first started dating, he wouldn't spend a dime. Only on a few big purchases that were near and dear to him. What happened?! lol
