OK I just had the biggest scare of my whole life.......I have caller ID on my television and the phone rang and it showed up as The US Navy was calling...it rang once and then that was it.  I freaked out....started yelling at the screen, my daughter kept telling me to calm down and then she called my son.  He answered and said it must have been because he parked his car wrong and they called the wrong number first.  They just called him and he needs to move it.  My heart is not going to beat regular for hours..!!!!!!  It's twelve oclock there!  I was thinking the worst...a car accident or who knows what!

Sailor spending time and eating at home ??? That did not happen here the 10 days he was home on leave.  Lots of time spent with friends, and eating at his favorite digs ( I guess the nearest Chipolte is 100 miles from GC).  It was disappointing but I am sure his next leave will be different.   The first text I received when he got back to GC was "I wish I had spent more time with you and dad."  I just told him it was a life lesson.

My newest favorite kitchen gadget is the silicone spoon/spatula! I love all my Pampered Chef items too, and my Cutco knife. Oh yes, and my Magna Roasting pan! My son still wants to go to Japan. I have a friend from high school who is Army and still stationed in Misawa (over 30 years now). He loves it and so does his family, they are about 1 1/2 hours north of where the earthquake hit, some of the photos he has taken of the destruction over there is amazing. What surprised me the most was that there is absolutely no looting of any homes or businesses. The people actually go through everything and create a pile for the searchers to go through for their personal belongings. Many have found their things, miles inland from where their homes had been.

By the way, my daughter made something called Oreo truffles at Christmas - crushed Oreos formed into balls and dipped in chocolate. They were amazing. I wonder if they resemble a cake ball at all - they did have a cake-like consistency. I gotta find that recipe again...

My favorite kitchen utensil is my little Pampered Chef spatula that is the perfect size for extracting brownies (my FAVORITE dessert - of course I have not yet tried the cake ball lol) from the pan. I have gone through a few of them - I left my first one in the oven while it was preheating and melted the handle. I was so upset that my daughter took pity on me and ordered me two to replace it. I have since melted the handle of one of them (not quite as bad, still usable), the other one is still intact so far. Sounds like something a Nuke would do. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree? :)

Favorite kitchen gadget?  It has to be my Keurig One-Cup coffee maker, but I don't drink coffee.  I use it to make the PERFECT cup of tea every time.  I like my tea HOT and fresh brewed.  I love it.
