I think special liberty is they can stay off base overnight and do not get scheduled for watch during those days.  Somebody correct me on that.

does anyone know what "special liberty" is?  My son said he requested 3 days of "special liberty" for when we are there next week, but he doesn't explain what that means, just that it isn't leave.

OMGosh.. I forgot to tell you all about the Tat.. Cole doesn't have one yet, but he has scoped out where he wants it done and has had this design for 4 years.  I told him if he wants my blessing.... he needs to get an eye on his butt.. my eye since I am always keeping it out of trouble...  He said... how 'bout the should blade, since you DO watch my back all the time!... I 'bout fell over... BUT the catch is I have to get a small anchor on my shoulder.  So if he gets his I will get mine... We'll see.... silly boys and their tats!  My youngest then said that he wants piano keys on his ankle.  And Then I have to have a note on the other shoulder... hmmm I see some creative design coming on to incorporate both.

I hear they have a bulletin board in the Rickover bldg. where they can post things for sale.  Maybe he should post that he wants to buy a car. someone considering selling theirs would be glad to find a seller so quick.  Just a thought.

cheryl - I will definately report back in about the drive.  Others have told me it's a great drive across I-40.  We'll drive up from Phoenix and catch I-40, then across to Albuquerque the first night.  Getting a late start after my daughter gets out of school, but that will help to ease things up along the way so we can take a little more time at Graceland or other things along the way.  Can't wait to get start.  Itching for an adventure.

Thanks for the good wishes Sharon.  I checked the weather report for Charleston yesterday.  This whole next week is supposed to be pretty much like Phoenix, low to mid 70's.  I just hope it stays that way for all of next week too.  That would be perfect for us.

Hi Kat!  Would love to know how the drive went when you get back.  We will also be driving from Cali to Goose Creek sometime early summer with husband and two daughers for the same reason.  It should be interesting.  Have a great trip!

Any Nuke Moms from Boston with sons in Power School?  My sailor has 2 buddies from Boston and just checking to see if the moms are here.  One is married, last name starts with a V and the other sailor's last name starts with a P.

KAt, have a wonderful time with your Sailor. The weather has been really nice, our K's were at the beach on Saturday. They went to Isle Palms, they have been to Folly Beach too. We are in MI. and would love to have the weather they are having there. lol

Safe travels!!!

Thanks for the info. Kris.  I will let him know.  since he actually fell down the stairs on Monday, then re injured it on Saturday, it very well could have something more like a hairline fracture.

Getting ready for our cross country drive to SC starting on Wed.  Goose Creek or bust.   Then spending a whole week there.  Have to make the most of it since it's such a long distance.  Thank goodness for spring break.  So glad my daughter has her license now and can do some of the driving.  Just hope his truck holds up for us and we have not problems.  Dad has been doing all kinds of little repairs on it, new tires, brakes, front end alignment all replaced, etc.  Should be a good shape for the trip, and for him to have back there.
