If you are annoyed by gzillion email notifications (to your regular email address) whenever someone comments in any of your groups (or blogs or forum discussions that you have started) - simply click "Stop Following" located just underneath the "Add Comment" box.

You can also set you email notification parameters. Go to Settings (upper right), then Email (upper left), I generally keep email notifications ONLY for messages from friends, an invitation to an event, friend request.  When I go on vacation and don't want any notifications at all, I click "Stop All Notifications"

Just remember to check your groups and reset you email notifications. I simply make it a habit, at least once a day, to check my groups (click on MY GROUPS), my personal page and my inbox - doesn't take that long unless you are responding.

Hey Ladies!

Just got done reading/skimming through 87 pages of posts. Now I have to go erase them from my inbox! It has been one heck of a new year here in la la land! Between the first 6 weeks of the semester lasting 2 1/2 months and wondering whether school might be cancelled because it was supposed to rain and someone might get wet to worrying about medical issues and being reaccepted and then rejected and then reaccepted to the federal HAFA program so I can get rid of this albatross house and finally move to NY before Binker gets there (per his maybe request) for prototype, things have never stopped.

So, news all around. My goodness! Emily! I missed your birthday! Happy late one sweetie! When you get that paper written, send it to me and I will edit it for you and not even treat you like one of my students!  Dor! Lackland is a wonderful place! NOT! Two trips through that place and its still a nightmare in my mind, but Jeff thinks of it as the place we got engaged. When its time to go, look into staying at the Emily Morgan. Its a wonderful old hotel right across the street from the Alamo, which you will never believe how small such a place could be. Check out this link: http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/947818-american-peddlers  The American Peddlers were a music group that ran the AF base circut from the early 70s to the late 80s and they told the tale of being in the AF. My brothers and I all agreed that "Yesterday I was a Rainbow" had to be one of the saddest songs ever heard as they told how it felt to be taken from the world of color and turned into an airman in green. Until you get your first issue, AF people call the newbies "rainbows" because of all the colors. I dont know if the traditions still hold but just looking this up for you took me on a trip down memory lane. I got to see them perform while I was at Lackland during my first trip through on the enlisted side and part of me still wants to cry! Welcome to my Air Force Family! San Antonio becomes your birthplace even years later!

USAA still cannot be beat and I'm glad to see so many of you finding it out. They have never done us wrong in the almost 25 years we have carried their insurance. Good grief, how can that be when I am only 30?

So, news in my world? Binker has decided he is getting married. I thought for sure my only issue was the affair he was having with his computer, but not so. A school introduced him to his intellectual equal and I knew long before he did that she was the one I would lose him to. He just admired her dedication and dilligence so much. They have at least decided to wait until after finishing power school instead of seeing the justice of the peace next weekend. They splurged and spent 60 bucks on two very fashionable walmart silver bands. Spring break cant get here soon enough so I can get down there and make sure the boy has his wits about him. and I guess the girl too since its starting to look like I'm going to need another blue star for my window since I will have two nukes to worry about. And you think you have it rough!

It's 3 in the morning and I'm starting to feel tired now and 6 will be here real early. It's raining. What's new. I'm sure we will have a delay to the start of school or we will have a flood day. I will be glad when this school year is over!

Hugs to you all. At the rate I'm going, I'll talk to you again in May.

Alright. Who watched Coming Home tonight? That little girl's reunion with her father... Oh my. That was a tear jerker!
Comment by Kat (MM Nuke) on March 13, 2011 at 8:24pm

Diana, yes, maybe April, but we don't know for sure,  that's still a month and a half away, plus 6 months in power school, equals almost 8 months.

Good luck on his comps tomorrow.  I'm sure he will do well.

Comment by Diana AZ NavyMom on March 13, 2011 at 8:19pm
Kat - Why is it going to be 8 months?  I thought Power School was 6 months.  Isn't he starting in April?  That is when my son said he was supposed to start.  So glad you had a good visit with your son.  I am so looking forward to seeing my son next Saturday.  Comps are tomorrow and graduation on Friday.

Troops May Miss Paychecks

Well, this would suck...

Comment by Sherri_M on March 13, 2011 at 7:12pm

Hey ladies....

@swim...prayers to you, we're here for you and I know you'll make it through basic!

@Jennifer, thanks for the information...I couldn't imagine that anyone that was still in school would be going over there....I can see helping with cleanup, but not for the nuclear part...my hubby had said same thing too--he was cryogenic engineer in Navy-was supposed to go Nuke, but during the physical they found out he was color blind--so he couldn't do the whole Nuke thing!

Prayers to those of you who have sons/daughters/BF's/Gf's/etc in Japan or Hawaii..or any of the places affected!  Keep us informed on your family!
