Dang, Aaronsgirl11. You are good. I can't hardly fit my hair dryer in there, let alone all the other toiletry items.

I just want to share my packing success with you ladies...

In that tiny, carry-on suitcase, I managed to fit this much luggage...

I'm pretty proud of myself right now.. Not to mention excited to head down south! :)

Hi, I was thinking about getting Cisco's umi for video teleconferencing through my hdtv. Does anyone have any experience with it or heard of it?

So true my3sons. There's something poetic about that isn't there? Now I'm looking for the charger. I'm sure its plugged in somewhere in his room or the bathroom. That's an easy one. I am in the process of making him his favorite gingersnap cookies so my husband can take them to him tomorrow. They get to spend Thanksgiving day together and there will also be another sailor who needed to be adopted. My husband got a room at the Palmer House (downtown Chicago) for Wed. night when he arrives, and he called the manager yesterday to find out when check out time was on Thursday. When she found out they were in the Navy she said "what time do you want to check out?" and my husband said "how about 5pm" and she said no problem, anything for the military. That is so nice to hear. I never realized how great people treat our military men! We are being flexible in case they just want to hang around the hotel and veg all day. I have packed 2 sets of comfie clothes, 2 laptops and of course the phone!

I would never have looked in his shoes for his cell phone either (my son had his right on the top of his clothes) except other moms said that's where they found them. I'm glad that you found it.

Mn Linda you are awesome!! As soon as I read your post I went into Jeff's room and viola- his phone was in his shoe. I never would have thought to look for it there. thank you thank you thank you!

Hello!

Skype, my sailor wanted us to show him the cats, especially, our one cat is sick, and may not be with us for long.

One of my step girls lives out of the country and we were able to speak all together. You have to pay extra, so we will do this' but some how we lost his picture but we were able to hear each other by patching on on the phone.

Skype allowed us to see the sailor,s new digs. He said it was good to skype with cousins, aunts/uncles, friends.

Let me caution you we had to try a few times before we got it all worked out on everyone' s end. So schedule a time just to work out the bugs. We kept face book chat going to communicate when we were having audio problems.

Another thing we discovered when cell reception not working from the dorm, texting seems to work.

Also sailor wants breakfast bars, so he doesn't have to go to chow hall, before class. I am going to send him a mug to make instant coffee etc before class.

Any thing else you have heard for morning snacks before class???

I bought 2 Logitech webcams which comes with built-in speaker (one for me and one for my grandson's house) -- my son has a Mac and it has a built-in camera, but he needed headphones since it didn't have a speaker. I bought them online for about $40 each I think. they are small ones for a laptop.

then you just download Skype to your pc (it's free) and then it's ready to go. oh you do need a free usb port to plug in the webcam.

Julsburd, if you have access to his cell phone account, call them to see if there has been any activity on the account. Also, you can check into suspending his phone while he is in bootcamp so that you don't have to pay during that time. We didn't find that out until it was too late.
