Well, I was thinking of getting Aaron a few months of Game Fly for Christmas... He's talked about getting one, but kept saying he was going to wait until he was somewhere with a more reliable mail system..
I'm thinking that since he's mail PO and goes every day at lunch, that it shouldn't be a problem...

The mailboxes are at the mini nex. Would have to go back many pages for price. Mail would be delivered directly to the mailbox instead of through the base mailroom. Wouldn't have to wait for mail person in class but would have to walk to mini nex. My son didn't mind the regular mail but then he didn't have a girlfriend and/or much mail.

Could anyone tell me the details of Aaron getting a personal mailbox on base? How much are they a month? And do they make the mail more reliable? Where would he go to get one?

There were 55 EM's graduating with my son and only 17 or maybe a few more openings in New York at that time. Don't know what happened to those who stayed in Goose Creek as his close friends went to NY also.

I'm just disappointed that Grad Holds for EM's are so fast!
.... I know that sounds absolutely horrible, but we were planning on being married before orders came out, and the shorter the grad hold means the faster the wedding. I need to get that high school diploma in my hand!!!

Married housing must be full but then David's friends were told the same but at least one married couple was sent. They didn't want to move at first but now are happy.

Note regarding NY vs. SC for prototype. One of Aaron's friends got a notice the other day that no married sailors are allowed to go to NY for prototype due to space reasons. His friend is getting married during Christmas Break, so they informed him that he would be staying in SC until after prototype.
I'm a little disappointed since Aaron is single... His chances of going to NY even though he wants to stay in SC just went up a lot!

My son requested New York as he wanted somewhere different for awhile. The smell of Charleston and the low country through the summer was yucky and was ready for a new town and state to experience. New York was also ready to take him within two weeks to begin Prototype and he loved that also. He graduated Sept 3 and reported to proto Sept 17 and started class the following Monday. No Grad hold, Yeah!! (Although there is a back up in NY but he will just have to do in-hull or shift work longer, the senior class ahead of him hasn't gotten finished with check outs and finials). He's an EM and they seem to be able to class up faster as a lot of what he does and learns doesn't need the reactors up and running I believe he said.

Funny you should ask. I just got off the phone minutes ago with my son. I was telling him Dana's son was from Chico but now he is in NY. I asked him if just EM go to NY and he said you request what you would like and then you get what you get. He is requesting NY.
