Exciting news! My sailor just called and when he finishes Prototype the end of July he is going to be stationed in Hawaii on a fast track sub. Exactly what he wanted!! WOOHOO!!

Cindy:

Enjoy the closeness while you can. We also were not sub. My husband was a surface ELT nuke officer who worked at the repair facility there. We were fortunate to have family in Melbourne florida and loved being able to see them regularly. Our tour there made me fall in love with the south. I would have loved to retire there and we often talk about doing that in the future. Our youngest just turned seven so we are still are a bit away from that.

Hello Ladies,
Our son Chase is also in class 1032-A MM. He's indicated that he graduates on 8/13. At what point should we look into flights & travel to come home for leave? Any ideas from the other's with experience. Also, how soon till they know when they begin their Power School? I always have all these questions for Chase and he never really has alot of the answers and probably annoys him that I'm always asking him.

Thanks~ Have a great afternoon!

Hi, all, I'm new to this as a Navy stepmom. We hear from our guy that he graduates from A school at the end of August. To be frank, I was a little surprised that there was another ceremony so quickly that would require travel. As our guy is not the most communicative, I'm trying to get more information on this graduation--is it similar to the bootcamp graduation? Dressy. Any guidelines, advice, or suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

We were stationed there as our last assignment prior to retiring. The base is really nice. It is less than an hour to Jacksonville florida and the beaches....

Cindy, Wow, that's a new wrinkle to send "holds" to Kings Bay. Wonder what they'll do while there? Hope it's not the scrub, shine, polish, repeat, repeat, repeat!! Seriously, I hope they get this Prototype backlog cleared up soon.

My two sons both had their wisdom teeth taken out within a couple weeks of each other. One is in bc, the other a civilian. The one in bc was SIQ for a day and that was about it. The civilian missed two days of work and it became infected and he had to go back to the dentist, etc., etc. You just never know what's going to happen when it comes to wisdom teeth.

My boyfriend and brother got their wisdom teeth pulled at boot. Neither one of them complained too much about it... They get a few days off and some good drugs for a couple days... okay, more like hours :)

Agreeing with Casey regarding the shots, they all seem to do ok. My sailor told me he received the H1N1 at least three times between getting to BC, graduating BC and then getting to GC.

Regarding dental work - have any done before he goes to BC. My son said his head hurt for a good three weeks after he was initially seen when first arrived at bootcamp. He had excelelnt teeth as he went to dentist 2x year, braces etc. apparently the dentist at bootcamp even removed the sealants that he recetly had had on his teeth.
