For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

In the event of an emergency within the sailor’s family, where you feel the sailor must be notified and considered for Emergency Leave, you must notify the American Red Cross through the national headquarters in Washington, DC (1-877-272-7337) or via their website www.redcross.org.

Comment by Dana (David's Mom) on March 5, 2010 at 7:15pm: I bought my sons better sheets (higher thread count) than they give them. They only get flat sheets no fitted bottom sheets. The size is twin xl. They are longer than standard twin. We got ours at Bed Bath & Beyond. Larger Penneys etc. sell them also or through online and send them to him. Be sure to check with him as to the bed length as standard twin fitted will be too short.

One of the first things my son did while he was down there was to go to Wal-Mart and buy "civilian" underware. He'd kill me if he knew I said that.LOL I also sent his favorite pillow and some of those disposable lint rollers. They are great at getting sand and stuff out of the carpet or off shelves. My son is an ET, so his school was different than the MMs

I'll be looking around here to find out where to stay, so I can make reservations today and in the meantime if anyone has a quick suggestion I'd appreciate it! I can't wait. Other than the 45 minute visit in the Atlanta airport, we have not seen him since 12/14! :)

Comment by carols_kitchen on March 4, 2010 at 7:55pm: when our son married, they got an apartment in N. Charleston. It was maybe 15 minutes to base? They came to a happy mid-place since his wife had to travel to downtonw Charleston daily.

We've been speculating what the housing would be like, so this will be so helpful for her!! Are we friends on this site yet? :-) Thanks heaps and bunches again!

ElizaN, did your sailor go the GC right after that week-end? Does anyone know about when married sailors may move their families to GC after PIR? Thanks soooo much for all this help!!!
