Wendy - that is so great Jim gets to come home soon. Does he know when he is going to Ballston Spa? That is where he is going right?

Spence is on 12 hr shifts now, and working nights. He said the first night was bad, but now he has adjusted. Next week will probably be days again!!!!

I am waiting still to figure out when I am going out to see him - if he graduates the end of August like we suspect, I will wait until then to go. If it is going to be longer then I am driving out there this summer to see him for at least a couple of days.

Hi Everybody: Donna posted this in the Wa/Or group, and I wanted to share with you.
NationalAnthem-CactusJH.wmv
I recived this through a fowarded email - and can not validate the truth of the story -- however - the rendition is awesone - and I wanted to pass it on

This was at a Texas Tech Basketball game.

The National Anthem is sung by *five young ladies* (*ages 6-8*).
You have never heard it performed better than this! An entire
arena remains completely silent throughout the song.
You could hear a pin drop.
Take a moment to listen to this.
The two young ladies on the right are *six* years old.
The two in the middle are * seven* and the one on the left is *eight*.

Hi all! I am just wondering if there are any moms who have sailors up in Ballston Spa? Spence is 0803, just wondering who else is up there.

It seems things are finally going again, and hopefully they will get everyone out of there soon!!!!

Shelli, my dear, what you don't know is that you are a connection to our much loved sons and daughters. You enable us to feel closer to them. My kids always tease me about the "mom things" I do and I tell them that I can't wait for them to have kids. Then they will look at me and say "Oh, now I get it." So many, many thanks to you, Shelli.

Congratulations to all the new Petty Officers!!!! (And their moms for making it through too)

They have some, Maegan - but not as many as you might think - a lot of them are nuclear engineers (actual ones, that is). I don't think the boards necessarily have to have a civilian member, by the way - I believe the requirement is that they be on staff, and qualified Engineering Officer Of The Watch (EOOW). Most of the staff that have that qual are civilian contractors.
Comment by Mark on March 22, 2009 at 6:58pm
The civilians Shelli mentions work for one of the two contractors supplying reactors to the Navy - Bettis Atomic Power Labs (a subsidiary of Westinghouse), and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (a subsidiary of General Electric). They also work closely with the three Navy Shipyards that refuel the Navy's reactors.

Media mom - the 4 br villa has 2 baths - one in the master bedroom and one in the hall and 6 chairs around the dining room table. There is also a table and four chairs in the kitchen. If you plan on doing a lot of cooking you may have to pick up some disposable pans. We were there for Thanksgiving. We bought a plastic mixing bowl set, some spatulas, and a cookie sheet that we left there. Let me know if you have any other questions - either on here or PM me. We had a 4 bedroom for Thanksgiving, have reservation for a 3 bedroom for June 5 Power School grad. Have a nice visit with your sailor. Melody
