For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

In the event of an emergency within the sailor’s family, where you feel the sailor must be notified and considered for Emergency Leave, you must notify the American Red Cross through the national headquarters in Washington, DC (1-877-272-7337) or via their website www.redcross.org.

By the way, daughter's stay at Goose Creek started with them assigning her a male roomie! It ended up being a good thing because she had a room to herself for all but the last week of A school.

Comment by Adam'sProudMom on April 16, 2013 at 2:45pm: Wow, NancyJo, 9lbs12oz! And you're only 5'3"? I'll bet you were adorable at 9 months! My younger son was "only" 9lbs4oz, and Adam was just 8lbs10oz, but yes, I do often look at them and think, "How did he ever fit under my ribs?"

Angie, if there ever was a height limit, there isn't one now. Adam is scheduled to be on a sub in a couple of months. I hope he'll be able to stand up straight when he disembarks!

Comment by B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet) on April 16, 2013 at 2:30pm: Hi vikiboo - my son just took his final test for A school (MM) on Monday and has graduation this Friday - his class was 3 months and yes it is a classroom setting. They are pretty much in class all day M-F and then they have study hours. All studying is done in the Rickover building. They settle into a routine fairly quickly and figure out how to get everything done......

After A school grad they can take leave. We will be there to visit until Monday and then our son is heading to Florida with some other sailors for a little more R&R for a few days. Then he waits for Power school to start and that hold time is called "T" track. It's not near as long as "grad" hold which is between power school and prototype. I know there are some on here whose sailors have been waiting as long as 8 months! Originally our son said his power school was starting early May but now it has been pushed to I think 6/24. That's a 6 month school so it's going to be finishing up right around Christmas!

Angie - we are on the West Coast too! Riverside, CA. We were fortunate to make it to PIR (12/21/12) and now to A school grad (4/19/13). Hubby says we are going to do our best to make it power school grad too. You should join the DEP group and also the boot camp moms group - you will get lots of info there!
