Thanks for the kind words, our son arrived home safely this morning. After working a 24 hour duty day on the sub ending this AM he then drove home (a 2 hour drive), then as soon as he arrived here put on his running clothes and went out and ran 5 miles before lunch. Lol. How do they do it. Have a happy Easter everyone.
Sunshine66 - I send boxes USPS and the "large" box will cost you about $15.45 and you can print the address label online. Like Sandra says - just make sure you tape it up real well! It's not a real big box but you would be surprised at how much you can stuff in it.......
Hope everyone has a Happy Easter!
Sunshine - Yes, you can ship boxes to your SR, but most of the time, USPS is the cheapest if you use their flat rate boxes and fit everything into it. You can ship up to 70lbs in the flat rate boxes. If not, I think USPS is still the cheapest, just be sure to secure the box well with packing tape and insure it if there are valuables in it. I shipped my son a box that burst open and he didn't get any of his personal belongings in the end. It was a real downer.
Does anybody know if I can ship a box to my sailor via UPS? He doens't have a PO Box yet. It's a heavy box and I think would be cheaper than USPS.
britefuture I recently stayed at the Villas. They are a bit worn down. However, we enjoyed every moment there. When my son was off, he stayed with us. There is no comparing being in a hotel room to having a whole house. They even have bar-b-que grills and picnic tables. You can book it yourself giving your son's name. You also need to book as much in advance as possible.
britefuture, if I am reading your post correctly, you are going to be in GC May 4 and 5. You can try to book a villa. We have enjoyed our stay there. But, just to let you know, that Friday, May 3, is a power school grad. Not that it should deter you from going, but understanding why villas might be booked already.
My guess is April 8.
William, congratulations to your son. It is wonderful that he is getting rewarded with a holiday at home. For any holiday, there is no place like home. :)
Signing off for a few days. Headed to GC to see my sailor for Easter. Have a Blessed and happy Resurrection Sunday everyone. See ya in April.
