A quick question. My daughter is leaving for boot camp next Monday and she is going as a Nuke. She has never liked doctors all that much and is concerned about the "special physical" they have to do for the rate. Can anyone give her some insight to what they do or are looking for? She knows I frequent the site and she thought maybe someone one here could help . Thanks

Mom B - I'm sure my son is doing the same thing!  Standing watch and cleaning - ha!  Funny thing that happened within 2 or 3 days of grad was that he posted on FB that he "was bored"!  SERIOUSLY??!!!

I guess so after having a "love affair" with the Ricky for 6 months.  He didn't know what to do with his time.  That'll be taken care of I'm sure!

Have an awesome day ladies!

Mom B - When did your son graduate A School?  11-18-11?  My son is an EM also and is now on T Track as of 11-18-11.

per Wikipedia... you know I AM a nuke mom and a bit obsessive about things myself.....

Hooyah is the war cry or battle cry used by the United States Navy SEALs, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Teams, and Navy Deep Sea Divers. Recently, the US Navy as a whole has adopted it as a result of MCPON Rick West's regular use of the saying. West’s son, an Active Duty Navy Diver, inspired his father who saw the value of incorporating the motivational tool Navy-wide.

It is similar to the expressions Oorah in the Marine Corps and Hooah in the U.S. Army. It is used to say Ok or understood or is sometimes used to show enthusiasm. Marine's often use it in conversational tone as an alternative to mentioning widget or whatchamacallit. Recently, Air Force Civil Engineers have taken up this battle cry replacing more traditional USAF expressions.

The origin is unclear, but may be related to "Heard-Understood-Acknowledged" (HUA).

I had asked my Sailor about it after BC and he said it meant Heard, Understood, Acknowledged...

I have not been here for a long time My son is now in t-track he is an EM the dinner table was quiet this year since it was just my husband and myself oh well I really don't have anything to complain about

Learned something new today ... I think ... correct me if it's wrong ... the "hooyah" (sp??)  we say here on N4Ms actually is Navy-speak for "Heard Understood Acknowledged."  Read that in a trivia book So now we know ...

We had an unexpected surprise for Thanksgiving but for OPSEC reasons I can't share any details. I would love to tell you all about it. Someday!

As I watched my sailor walk away I said to my husband. "He is still my little boy." I wish I could share with my friends on N4M's. My husband said " you know there wouldn't be a navy if it wasn't for their Mom's."

So here is to all the Mom's out there that gave birth to the sailors of the USN!
