While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Kat (MM Nuke) on July 26, 2011 at 8:06pm: seadreamstudio - and the millions of little gnats that eat them alive while they have to stand at attention and not move. My son had over 100 bites just on his face, neck and hands a couple of months ago.

He says theres a friendly racoon there too.

He leaves for boot camp in 12 days.

One of the first meetings that they have when they first get down to Goosecreeks is about the critters that they need to stay away from and that includes the gators. My son mentioned something about someone shooting a 12 foot gator that was up by one of the buildings. He said that he sees gators out sunning themselves on base. He even has lizzards on the outside of his door. One of his first comments to me when he arrived down there was that he had seen his first cochroach and I said "welcome to the south,lol. :)

Comment by Kat (MM Nuke) on July 26, 2011 at 6:53pm: J's mom - I believe they had an alligator on base a while back. I think my son said the Master Chief shot it, but there could be more. We did see some when we were there in March, at the plantations, so I know they are around the area.

Comment by Emily-aaronsgirl11 on July 26, 2011 at 6:02pm: Soo. I asked about the name on a Facebook group I'm in with Nuke girlfriends/wives. And the one said that she met Admiral the cat. Apparently it lives by the bowling alley/mini nex parking lot. And sometimes when the guys pass it, they'll salute it. And it answers to Admiral. Too funny. :)

Pretty common I think to see them in the "lagoons" on base. When I went to PS grad and we went past the ponds, all I could think about was gators!!! It's a miracle I didn't trip over myself trying to watch for those dinosaurs!

My son has not said much and he is by the water fishing almost daily after work.
