Will be praying for you Andi! My nephew is an assistance Golf Pro and has his BS in mgt, and loves his job. That is here in Texas. You need to apply to the Military Bases as well, maybe one that has a golf course!? Good luck!

Happy day for me! My mom, aunts, and grandma were in town visiting me all week and my mom kept asking me if I was happy living in SC. I said for the most part yes because I get to see my bf more often because I am only 2 hours from GC, but I am miserable with my work situation. I have a master's degree in business, and I am waiting tables trying to make rent. I have sent out countless resumes, filled out tons of applications, get on careerbuilder a few times a week but never get any calls. well mom left today, and I am getting ready for work tonight and I get the best phone call ever!! About 6 weeks ago I met a guy who overseas many different golf courses in the area (I want to work in golf course management as my ultimate goal) and he had sent my resume out to all of the pros at his courses. Well one of them finally called me today and wants me to come in and interview on wednesday! Not getting my hopes up but if he has had my resume this long and just called me I would hope that he has some postion open for me right?! im on cloud 9 right now that I FINALLY got some kind of call/interivew and it's for something that I actually want! I had gotten so discouraged that I have even applied for clerical jobs which I am way over qualified for. really hoping that this is my big break

Thanks, Quiltblue!  That Holiday Inn Express sounds great.

Don't bother about deliver confirmation anymore, it only confirms that the package has been delivered to the base. Once at the base it can take up to five days to be distributed by the "base employees who work the mail-rooms". Need to remember that there are over 5000 people receiving mail along with the departments etc. If your Sailors name is correct it will get to him and only him, just probably not in the time-table you think.  I have heard stories of mail being "dropped overboard" going to ships, some recovered, some not. The Navy is in control of all mail, not the USPS. If you mail something to a APO/FPO, it will be delivered to the closest base and then the Military will take it from then on (I got this information from USPS), so don't blame them for lost packages! LOL!    clarkedu, I stayed at the new Holiday Inn Express about 2 miles from the base and my son got Military rate for my four nights. Wonderful room, non-smoking, brand new, new clean mattress, easy access to everything, only down-side was that there was no shuttle to airport once I gave up his car. Great taxi service, PM me and I will give you the phone number of Tim the Taxi Driver!

Dan's mom, thanks for the advice about the Villas.  I'll give it a try but not get my hopes up.  ;-)

okay.  I'm starting a new event for the next Olympics.  It will be called "Cardio Nuke Moms Reading"...7 pages of speed reading to catch up.  Never a dull moment!  Thanks for your stories about mawwiage, and everything else.  We had a small rain storm in Memphis last night.  At least it's a little less humid today!  STAY COOL...

Thank you for your response TC. I think he did inquire about it once and was told that they didnt have it. He probably doesnt want to push too hard in fear of getting chewed out. I guess I just need to let it go and hope that some other sailor got to enjoy it. I'm ok with that.

Dont speak so quick to say it's cooler in BS. At 830am, heat already felt like 95 and it doesn't look to be letting up any day soon. On average, yes, much cooler here in NY.

Jacob's class is the largest they've ever pushed through here in NY. I think there's more being pushed through in general here and in GC. They just don't know where to put them! Grad hold was 2 months for my EM and some of his friends got 4 months hold in NY and others 2 months in GC, 2 months in NY. Though to be honest, grad hold was AWESOME! Of course, we're not in too much of a hurry to get to the ship either ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I want to say there's more reactors/training ability here in NY than GC? I do know that housing on base (while it is a small base) is absolutely FULL. A class will be graduating soon but half of the married housing section is instructors who probably won't be moving anytime soon. However, if you do want to know more about base housing I'd be happy to be a little salesgirl :) It's sooooo awesome and affordable since EVERYTHING is included in rent (and during winter, heating bills might get to half of BAH alone)

As far as things to do in the area? LOTS!!!! way more than GC I feel. Especially for underage sailors, though they still might have the problem of all their older friends wanting to hit one of the many bars in downtown Saratoga and surrounding areas.

Horse racing just started today!, 2 six flags within a day trip's drive, a lake with good beaches from what I hear, mini golf, Boston/NYC also in a day trip's drive (though you'd probably want to stay the night there), Sporting events, private colleges (i.e. their different college events open to the public like sports), malls larger than you can imagine, and much more!

Hi All, I mailed a package (Priority in a 12x12 box) of snacks & goodies to my grandson on Jul 12. The Delivery Confirmation stated that it arrived at GC on July 13. I put mistakenly "Indoctringation" instead of his class # in the address. He still has not received it. What to do? He has very little time to track it down due to heavy study hours. I've probably got $50 plus in the pkg. If another sailor got it, I could live with that but if it's just sitting in a corner somewhere, I'm not happy about it. Any suggestions??? I don't want to overstep my bounds by making phone calls to the base. Don't want to take a chance on anyone giving our sailor a hard time. They are already under enough stress. Should I just let it go?
