OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Andi6109 on July 7, 2011 at 12:26am: nvmomma my bf lucked out...he got leave right away after A school. which is why he started watch yesterday. and his roommate graduated 1 week after he did. his class does not get leave until later this month. so they both are on watch at the same time. his roommate and him the last 6 months have been very different...rommate goes to bed early, doesnt go out anywhere ever it seems. and my bf would go out during the week and make it back just in time for curfew, stay up late online...but he put in headphones and is very respectful. another thing 5 years of college taught him haha its nice now though. if they are on different watch schedules at least they know when the other one needs to catch up on sleep

Comment by nvmomma on July 6, 2011 at 11:51pm: My son has been on 12/24's for the past few weeks; one of his FB posts last week at about 7am Goose Creek time after such a shift: "The people I live with suck." Apparently they were not being too considerate of his alternate sleep schedule...:P

Comment by Emily-aaronsgirl11 on July 6, 2011 at 11:42pm: WATTCO- Your son must be in Aaron's Prototype class... Although it looks like he' in NY and Aaron is in SC. Aaron said he thought grade date was 10/21.
But I've heard Prototype is the smallest of the three... like not worth a trip. People say its more of a pat on the back and here's your orders. Plus, the guys are itching to get out of there and start their 30 day leave before they have to report to their station!

Comment by Andi6109 on July 6, 2011 at 11:19pm: My bf feels the same way about the staggered sleep thing. He graduated A school 6/24 and got his leave right away. Yesterday was his first day back and he said everyone on hold for power school is on a watch schedule of 12-24's...i think he explained it as 12 on, 24 off..but the 12 on is either 0600-1800 or 180-0600. and has to muster EVERYDAY at 7am, unless he has the daytime watch then he doesnt have to report. so basically no free time. he was telling me his plan for when he will sleep. i thought it was cute and in college he used to stay away for 24 hours, sleep for 12, or some crazy combination of sleep patterns. he didnt go to class much either which is why he got away with that haha

Comment by WATTCO1957 Ship 12 Div 083 on July 6, 2011 at 9:50pm: Have been to all the graduations to date, A school was June 2010, 3 small classes and only about 40 people there to watch. Even so I would not have missed it. Power School was December 2010, an incredible experience. Truly a don't miss event. Now the big question, What do they have after Prototype? I have not heard much about this and am wondering as tentative date is currently 10/22 but it might be pushed out a week or two from what I hear.

The 15 means what the required number of hours for the week of studying OUTSIDE of the classroom time but still in Rickover Center. The two (2) is how many mandatory hours the sailor must do every day Sunday through Thursday. The remaining 5 is up to the sailor on when they choose to put them in but required to make a total of 15.
