So it is raining in my neck of the woods...cats and dogs....and we never ever get rain like this just north of san fransisco this time of year.  What's going on with all these weird weather patterns?  

Binker's mom...love your description.  I remember the time we all told Emily how and when we knew our partners were the right ones to marry.  I think that's in a discussion somewhere. 

I'd like to start a new one:  What is some or maybe just one of the words your kids would get wrong as a toddler that you just wish no one had corrected?

I'm tickled you included my name, but somewhat dismayed you did not include my state.  LOL  But how could you?  I don't think I ever told any of you that I call the great state of Nebraska my home.

 

We in eastern NE are currently experiencing quite terrible flooding.  Pls keep us in your prayers.

I have gone back three times trying to find Cindy's post to make my reassurance. But I cannot find it, so here goes. ***for purposes of this post, kids means son, daughter, wife, husband, brother, sister, lover, friend: sailor

we give the good and the bad. we celebrate. we mourn. we act horribly serious and dreadfully ridiculous. we take pictures of each others kids so we can share our great moments. we wrap arms around each other when our kids seem to forget us. we cry over the silly, funny, tragic, delightful. we offer advice, both good and bad, sometimes accurate and inaccurate. we have experts like mark, novices like you and our other wonderful newbies. we have moms with kids all over the military spectrum, like dor. we have amandas and emilys and bunkerqbs and tnmoms and nancys and marys and williams. we come from maine and cali and idaho and the dakotas and texas and minn and mich and florida and ny and kentucky (that's for me). we have newly weds, oldie weds, not ever weds and why did we weds. we have been in the army, coast guard, marines, navy and air force. we have no idea what the military is and do not understand a word of what happens in this seafaring world. we are baptist, catholic, buhddist, athesist and everything in between. we are all ridiculously intelligent with even more intelligent sailors!

 

We are the best America has to offer and we have willingly (at least over time) given our greatest gifts--our kids--to the Navy and Uncle Sam and entrusted a bureaucracy dedicated to war and the prevention of war to do what is best for these most precious gifts.

 

All of us belong here. all of us are welcome. all of us have a home here for as long as we each need it. Nuke moms is a blessing in all our lives no matter how decadently dirty or squeaky clean! Echoing Penny: welcome aboard (ya know how weird it feels to say those navy sayings for this ole flygirl?). we are a wonderful bunch. YOU already fit right in! you and every other newby who has found us.

 

Come on in! Sit down. Have a cake ball! Watch out for the spiders! We're a great bunch!

I'm sitting here thinking how wonderful you all are. We are so lucky to have each other.  Every day I say a prayer of thanks for all the support that I get, including N4M.  

Just FYI, and I think I have said this before, my son-in-law was a Navy Nuke on a carrier who went on after discharge to college and get his masters in Nuclear Engineering.  Even if our sailors don't go on to college after the navy, being in the military in any capacity can bring so many benefits.  My nephew-in-law is an Army vet, 82nd Airborne.  He says the same thing.  No matter how bleak things look now, take a deep breath.  Tomorrow is another day.

Cindy, I agree with what Penny said 100%. Sometimes I get overwhelmed reading about how relationships become so strained during school, and that really it doesn't get much better stress wise when they're out of school. With that being said, this place has also been an incredible source of information. I know so many things that have helped me and my sailor, that I would never have known with out N4M. Knowledge is power, if you choose to let it be. :) This Nuke world can definitely be scary and overwhelming at times!! Take it one day at a time.

Hey Cindy, I will disagree with you...I think you came on at the exact perfect time.  N4Ms is a perfect place for moms/dads/GFs/wives, etc to be able to come together and pour out their hearts ... either for happiness, sadness, etc.  At this particular time, all of us are feeling for Sharon and her son.  At the same time, we are also welcoming people like yourself, NavyMom, MissyQ and so many more.  I believe it is good to learn about others so that IF it ever happens to us and our sailor, we will have something to bring back to memory and also know that there will be others stepping up to the plate to give guidance and virgual hugs. 

 

Welcome aboard and keep reading.  You will learn a whole lot here and gain some wonderful friends.
