In case anyone wants another link to read, I often refer to Navytimes.com  Here is an article specifically about military pay.

Sorry, I keep finding more links to share... http://www.milspouse.com/govt_shutdown.aspx

Here's a link I found posted... I like military.com, it would be a good spot to look for articles.

On the bright side, our governor is expected to sign legislation today that gives us our 5 calamity days back so we won't have to make up any days from Easter! Not that it really affects me since I'm going to SC whether we have school or not... :)

Well I'm glad they changed it--

On a link TXLadyJane posted on Facebook, it said that all personnel would be expected to show up to work, but would not be paid. If they don't get paid that would technically be breaking their contract, right? So why would they be expected to show up? Sounds like a huge mess to me...

Can we just kick all of congress out of office? I mean, for pete's sake, they can't even agree on a budget!!

I found this link. It was posted last Friday. not sure if it is the same as the one Emily posted or not, but I thought it was pretty good.

Emily posted something about that earlier. Yes, it would affect pay AS IT'S WRITTEN NOW. There was a shutdown back in the 90s and another bill was pushed through to specifically stop a concurrent shutdown of military personnel pay. They will likely do something like that again, I think a few Senators are already working on it, especially in a time of war.

Love the grandpa&grandson pic!  That's the kind of deja vu thing I like...  One Christmas when he was about 5 all Jeff wanted was the USS Enterprise carrier.  He played with that but it never wore out.  This year, after playing with Uncle Jeff's, that's what my grandson wanted for Christmas.

Thanks for the link, Julie.  Prayers and remembering to cherish everyday.

Hugs to all.

Yes, the insurance is Tricare.  You can look the coverage up online.

About the clutter, at my home we have a different joke.  ANytime my partner goes hunting he says he is going to take pictures of everything and everything in his workshop, garage and desk better be just the way he left it.  He never does and it never is.  Some things need to be tossed and recycled like empty plastic containers and that's just the price you have to pay if you are going to go try and kill harmless animals in your free time.

So sad, Julie; praying. Thanks for posting the link.

yea, Michael has to go get his contacts now that he is home....he went to Walmart too....but his dad's insurance covered it and the contacts...now he just has to actually go order them...

thanks for the info on the villas...wasn't sure, I have heard the ones on base are pretty nice and convenient and sound like a decent price...I'll have to have him double check this other place and the price..can't wait to plan a trip down there though!!
