Dan's mom, WHAT A RELIEF for you and for him.  thank goodness.  I'm sure all of us will face challenges like that as we go along.  Good luck to your son on his comps tomorrow.  Will be thinking about you both.

Connie, USAA told me the same thing.  I figure they have done it enough that they have to know, right?  We are going to change him to his own policy with USAA when he comes home after A school in two weeks.  Will transfer the title to his name, here in Arizona, keep it registered here since we just paid the 2 year license reg. fee, and get his insurance as SC insurance.  It's a little let expensive than Arizona, but not a super lot.  Enough that he'll be getting far better coverage, including renters insurance, for only $5 a month more than he pays now.  Sounds good.

Thanks everybody. Now the only other thing I have to worry about tonight is the incoming snow -- will it be 2 to 4 inches or 6 to 10? Depends on which station I'm watching. And I'm with you, the kid oughta buy his own darned printer. He went to a pawn shop over the weekend and got a nice fishing pole.Other than that, since he got to GC he's been a lot like his dad ... open that wallet and moths fly out!! :)

When my son was at Goose Creek his roommate had a printer but when he went to Saratoga Springs his new roommate didn't have one and he kept wanted to scan and send me thigs so for Christmas I sent him an inexpensive wireless printer with scaner (he makes more money than I do and has games, movies, big screen TV, snowboard and clothes to go with it but wouldn't get a cheap printer, go figure)

Connie,

Just checked your state DMV and he will be alright with registration and Drivers licence in PA and Insurance in SC with USAA. Military active duty if in another state don't have to be insured in PA just insured. Plus he will meet the Navy 2/3 requirement of 2 of the 3 in same state. Shouldn't have a snag and safe driving to your husband.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Scott is in class 1032A. I don't know what his rate or section number is. It is definitely a two day drive for us. Now we are thinking of flying. We don't have hardly any snow up here. Most of the storms missed us this year but all the downstaters really got hit.

OK guys, please go way back to when we were having a discussion about auto insurance for our sailors ... a couple of weeks ago? Just got off the phone w/ USAA rep, very helpful. Long story short, my son is buying his uncle's truck this week, son  of course is in Goose Creek, uncle and truck are in PA as are we. We are going to transfer the title in PA, keep it registered in PA, using our home address as our son's permanent address. Auto tags place says this means the insurance has to be PA. However, in printing out the USAA proof of insurance card, it comes out South Carolina since that is my son's mailing and billing address. (interestingly enough, insurance premium in SC is 1/3 the cost of PA premium). The USAA rep says this is fine, because military personnel on active duty can use the state where they are actually stationed as their address even tho the vehicle title and tags are for a different state. The reason I'm involved is, my son didn't have access to a printer today so he had me print out the proof of insurance card here at home so we can take it to the auto tags place this week. My husband is going to drive the truck to GC this weekend ... provided we don't hit a snag on Wed or Thurs when we go to the auto tags place for transfer. Has anybody else had an issue like this?.

Julie, so happy that he called! What an amazing feeling that must have been after so long. I was just whining because I hadn't seen my son on Skype in 2 weeks...spoiled rotten I am.

haha. Kat- I had to think for a good long moment about what the heck you were talking about. How pathetic is that. :)

My family did a small "surprise" party for me at my grandparent's house. My sister was in town with her hubby and kiddos so it was perfect. We had all already been there hen Lily (my 2 year old niece) came over from her nap at our house. She came over to where I was sitting and said "Happy Birthday to you?" and I laughed and said what? She said "Happy Birthday Aunt Emmy" I asked her if someone told her to say that and she said "Yea! Mom said Happy Birthday Aunt Emmy!" I just laughed and kept my mouth shut until the cake came out. :)

That's my mom, me, and my niece, Lily. Lily and I just blew out my candles. :)
