I  have a question for  you  moms; Does anyone know of  a Nuke that was able to appeal a diagnosis of asthma and continue on to Nuke school?  My SR is a Great Lakes in her 7th week of boot camp.  She had some kind of coughing episode after PT in 92 degrees heat and was sent off to  be tested for asthma.  Turns out the GL docs  diagnosed her with exercise induced asthma.  I want to encourage her to appeal, but  not if it is a hopeless case.  anyone have any experience with this?

Remember that much of what these guys do is highly sensitive and they have to have clearance before they even start school.  When my sailor first began this journey, their was no Navy for Moms...I did a lot of research to find out all I could about what my son was going to be doing.  There was a page on the internet that you could do a little reading about the school in Goose Creek.  The next time I went to the page to see if anything had been updated, it was gone.  It appeared again before he finished up prototype, but when I searched for the link above, I could not find it again.

It has been a great week!  My son passed all his tests this week and inspection this morning.  I got a call from him today telling me that he was going to be able to drive his car (it arrived yesterday) in 40 minutes.  He was so excited. He and a few friends were all going to Walmart.  My how times have changed.

Hi Pat- Thanks for checking that out- I wasn't looking for anything in particular- just wanted to check out the site and wondered what happened to it- just seemed strange for it to not work anymore.

I realize so many people say A-school grad is "not a big deal", but when I went in March for my son's the room was PACKED with families! Mine didn't take his leave then...he wanted to save it. For us it was a big deal--and I think for the other families that were there it was a big deal too. I was just in GC this past weekend and attended PS grad (my son was in the color guard and got permission for me to come on command). It was full of pomp and circumstance, but when it got "time for grad" it was just like high school--everyone just cruising across stage shaking hands. Now I just have to wait 6 months for my sailor to do the same thing.

You might want to check out cheapoair.com. You can get some really good fares there and they'll send you updates when there are "sales" too.

No I don't believe that link works anymore. I also tried to just search for the school and got nowhere. Is there specific information that you are looking for?

good morning everyone!!

i too worry when my son has an exam, which he has one today.   it is the mom in us.   i dont talk to him often, so i have an alarm on my phone for 2100hours to text him good night.  sometimes he texts back and sometimes he doesnt, but it make me feel better.    his fiance said that she was talking to him about that time the other night and he said he just got a text.  she knew it was me saying good night.

Nuke mom I am so hoping that my son will be able to come home for a visit after A School that would be wonderful.

Cathy I was worrying a lot and checking up on my son about school and tests, and a week or so ago he told me not to stress he is fine and I don't need to worry about him...lol he knows me too well I guess.  He did say that he was supposed to be phasing up this week, so he didn't want to do anything to mess it up. I assume that means testing but he doesn't want me to worry. He seems so grown up, and I don't want to interfere to much, so I message him when I see him online or I text him in the evening here and there I try not to push too much he seems to be doing fine.

NancyJo, I am hoping to make all grads for him, but I will make sure I am there for power school.

Tkmec my son is in 1229A but I am not sure yet of the grad date.

juliebelle28 I understand where you are coming from with expensive, I live in AZ and tickets are crazy expensive to fly back east. My daughter wants to fly back home to Albany NY and they want over $600 for a ticket. I keep hoping the prices will go down a bit.
