Good morning everyone! Binker called at 3:45 this morning and told me he is going to sea! He passed his boards "the hard way".  He will be heading to Elmira for the weekend later on this morning. I head in that direction for spring break as soon as school is out tomorrow afternoon. All three will be home and the Rabbit has been in full gear!

Remember, for all you with sailors in BS, as soon as June hits, I am a mere three hours away if you ever need me to go check on someone or if one of them needs somewhere to go for a weekend away!

hugs to all!

Binker's Mom  Welcome back.  Prayers for your son as he moves to the next adventure.  Mine is moving to NY on Friday, but I guess will be on Hold a couple months yet.    Thank you God for all the sailors traveling this Friday through the weekend to get to their new locations.  Thanks for their housing to be better than expected.   Thanks for their jobs or for the study they will start in this last leg of school.  Thanks for your hedge of protection around each and every one of our sailors in the name of Jesus Christ    AMEN

So happy for you and your Sailor, Lamarmama!  Thankful to hear there can be a "twice"!

Comment by Lamarmama 09/139 on April 4, 2012 at 10:27pm

I talked to my sailor this afternoon and he passed his comps today! Woohoo!  Sometimes it just takes twice to get it right. Either way I couldn't be prouder.

Lorraine- He just might not have mentioned it or he might not be in the division. He's fine now. He just got the bug that was going around the ship and had been vomiting for 2 days straight. He tends to get dehydrated/low sugar and passes out. He did it a few times before boot camp while/before working out.. once on the track at the Y. No one ever found him so he just came to, got up and left.

Aaron hasn't taken the 2 year reenlistment yet. He probably will, I just hope he does it in a tax-free zone while they're gone. It's two years of Shore duty so I don't see the harm in it. Any more than that will definitely not be happening though. He has the same attitude as your son, Lorraine. He's just not happy.

Binker- Welcome to the Stennis! :) We could have an exciting year coming up depending on which card we get dealt. If you'd like to know more, send me a message and I can fill you in. The west coast is absolutely beautiful. If he likes to do things outdoors and camp, it'll be a perfect place for him! If you have any questions, let me know!

My son just classed up this week - Class 1227T -- Finally!!  He arrived in GC on March 17 and all he has done is clean.  I think he's ready for a change.  I haven't heard from him as much this week so I can only imagine how busy he is now.  We are planning a trip to Charleston next month to take him his vehicle.

I love the cupcake website!   My son has been sick since bootcamp.  He found out he had pneumonia when he arrived in GC.  The poor guy has been unable to work out so the last thing he wants me to send him is cupcakes but he is definitely getting some of those soon!!  What a great idea!

I plan to check out the hotels that were suggested here.  I am such a rookie to all of this so I welcome any advice you all have to offer about this new adventure.  Like so many of you have said, I am so proud of our sailors and want to do anything I can to support my son's decision.  I think it was a wise one but I just miss him terribly...

Happy Holidays everyone!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you for the cupcake website!  They look wonderful! I think I'll order for the tomorrow delivery too!  I'm headed to GC in two weeks but my son hasn't found out for sure if he'll get leave for the week.  Crossing my fingers as we rented a condo at Hilton Head.  He's between A school and power school - any idea if that usually works out OK?  Thank you all for all the great advice.

Binker's Mom, great to hear from you again! I'm glad I'm not the only one not hearing from her sailor.  Since my son's Proto started communication is sparse.

Deployment is a whole other animal. I'm so glad for you Moms who hear from your sailors out in the fleet. Those calls must be manna from heaven for a mother's heart.

Hi everyone!

Sorry I havent been around for a while--I had to come back to Louisville in January to end the school year and have not had a great deal of internet access during this time--in addition to running around with my head chopped off.

Binker boards tonight at midnight. He has had a rough time--which of course, since he never called--took up lots of worry time for me. The girlfriend dropped him 5 weeks ago and he never told us--his brother even visited and he kept it hidden. We have orders for the Stennis. He volunteered for the west coast because that's where she wanted to go. Ramifications--he got Bremerton--she got Norfolk. Strange how that works. But, he wasnt attentive enough since he came home and fell asleep after the 12 hour days and didnt cook her dinner. Who knows what will happen, but I get all three (probably for the last time) this weekend. I cannot wait until the end of the week and spring break to start. The bell just rang and I have to get across the building for the next class--no classroom of my own as an added bonus to the chicken head cut off syndrom! Love to you all!
