When you can't cry, laugh. Thank you Bnuke. Our nukes are learning Semper Fortis. I know the navy will keep my baby safe and he will be stronger.

JayDee659, I'm sorry they weren't able to get you a call or message beforehand. I understand the worry for the furbabies.

Yeah, it sucks that she didn't have time to call you.  I know that things were happening really fast and with very little notice.  Hopefully they can ride this out and return soon.  I agree - they are safer out there than on land.

B'sNukeMom, those graphics are funny! I'm right with you on taking an earthquake any day of the week!

As of this morning my son said They did not get any food (no mre last night) they are hearing they might be moved (haha)  1 person had to sleep on the floor

B'sNukeMom, thanks I followed all the sortie alerts.  My SIL's sub had not passed sea trials last I knew so in my mind it's 50/50 if they went out or not.  Somehow I got disconnect from the sub group here, but I'm back on and am trying to see if any other mom knows anything.  I'm quite sure my daughter is safer than anybody on shore, just wish she'd had a minute to say they're going out.  We have a code for that.

JayDee - they did go on operation sortie - everything moved out to sea for safety so I'm pretty sure your nukes are out & will be safe.  I understand your concern for the furbabies though :(

This is our safe place where we can share our fears, concerns, accomplishments - you name it!  We need to continue to support each other and hold each other up so we can be strong for our Sailors.

Right now the media isn't helping with everything on the hurricane - I get it, they want everyone to be prepared but it can be a bit overwhelming (especially for this CA girl - give me an earthquake any day!).

So not to take away from the seriousness of the situation but wanted to share a few pictures I've seen on FB to help sort of lighten things up a little:

Comment by JayDee659 on September 13, 2018 at 1:33pm

I've been reading all the comments and thinking how lucky you all are to know where your child is and that you can at least get messages.  While I'm presuming my child is out on her ship and her husband on his sub, I have not heard from either and that nags at me when my faith falters.  My guess is that they hastily put down extra food for their cat & bunny then prayed for the best as they left their house and pets and headed to where duty called.  My oldest daughter was willing to make the 5 hour drive to get the animals a couple days ago, but with no way to contact her sister she didn't risk it.

I have to have faith that they are fine.  The Navy's got this.  I have a t-shirt that says:

"Fate whispered to the sailor "you cannot survive the storm" and the said answered back "I am the storm"".
