Amarrah.....mine is scheduled to graduate on the 15th of December.....  I wonder which one of us was given the wrong date?

Comment by Chipmunk on September 12, 2018 at 3:46pm

Amarrah - You may send friend requests to anyone that you would like on N4M, but maybe there will be some other MM moms from PS class 1805 who will reach out to you.

SubMom - that is more info than I had from my son. Last year, I think he mostly sat and read on his computer. If they are filling sandbags, that will at least give them all something to do.

Glad to hear all of the "safe and sound calls coming in"

Comment by Amarrah on September 12, 2018 at 3:43pm

Mine made it fine as well. Basically said he had to muster in the morning, and be checked in by midnight. He said he essentially had free time in the mean time. Anyone know of things to do in the Columbia area to prevent massive boredom?

Comment by KayCee on September 12, 2018 at 3:37pm

Hi All - my son drove himself and said he had made it.  Now he was just waiting in line - I assume to check in.

Amarrah - my son is also class 1805 but section 03 which are all ET's.  He has the same graduation date.

Prayers for all affected during preparations, during the storm and afterward!

Comment by Amarrah on September 12, 2018 at 3:22pm

He's petty officer 3rd class. Machinist mate nuclear. He's graduating Dec 13.

Comment by NavymomMarie on September 12, 2018 at 3:13pm

Yep, I got the “I made it safe and sound call" I'm praying for everyone who's going to be affected by the storm.

Comment by SubMom on September 12, 2018 at 3:01pm

Hoping everyone gets their “I made it safe and sound call”. I know once our sailor checks in he’s immediately on sandbag duty. I’m sure this will be all hands on deck.

The Hammer - our son is the same way. This would be his first hurricane and he wanted to stay and experience it.

Comment by Chipmunk on September 12, 2018 at 2:30pm

The Hammer - Yes, lots of close quarters is not my son's idea of a vacation even if it is a hurrication!

Amarrah - So the class number is usually a designation of the year, I believe and the fiscal year starts Oct 1st. I believe. I am assuming the first Power School class to start after Oct 2017 would likely have been in Nov, because if my son is 1804 and started in mid-May, that would work out right with PS starting every 2 months.

My son is 1804-02 so he is class 1804 Section 02, your son is class 1805 section 09. What rate is your son? Mine is an ET. I know there are friends of mine on here that have sailors in 1805, so hopefully you can connect with some of them. The different sections are the different ratings, MM, EM, ET. They are all in the same class together and if I have gathered correctly, some subjects and tests they all take together in PS and others are still rate specific.

Comment by Chipmunk on September 12, 2018 at 2:07pm

My son contacted me in the last hour to say they had arrived, but  that there were bunches of lines. He had topped off his gasoline tank, upon his father's recommendation.

Comment by The Hammer on September 12, 2018 at 1:56pm

My son called this morning to let us know that he was allowed to drive his car to Ft. Jackson. I feel so much better knowing that they will be on higher ground. He is not so happy as he would like to experience his first hurricane... and not have to bunk with 80 of his mates!
