We had plane tickets to A School grad and our son told us to change them. Said it was not worth attending for the time, expense and distance from CA. He came home the week after A School grad (yeah!) and now we have a trip planned BETWEEN his A School grad and his Power School grad. We can't wait to see him again and visit lovely Charleston for the first time!

Dolphin- I hadn't heard about the thing in Cinci.. I'll have to look it up. I'm only about 2 hours north of there. :)

Thanks to all of you that replied to my questions about the A school grad. ceremony.  The mom in me wants to be there, but I think that he'd prefer that just the girlfriend attend this one.  I just didn't want to miss out on anything big even if it did involve pulling out the charge card that just got paid off from the January PIR graduation.  I think that a smiling and pretty girlfriend cheering him on is a lot "cooler" than a tearful and sniffling mom crying as she watches her "baby" graduate.  I'm trying to let him fly so I'll sit this one out.  sniffle.  But, I'll be there for power school graduation with a box of tissues and I won't care if it's a little embarassing.  I'm pretty sure that childbirth gave me that right.  :)

crmom, my son was home on liberty for the 4th of July weekend, and said his Chief wanted to know  if we are planning to attend son's A school graduation (it will be 5 weeks from now) but Chief also told him it is a short ceremony and son will get leave to come home again soon after graduation anyway.  So we are thinking the same as you, and Dan's mom did and skip A school graduation, but  attend the Power School graduation instead.  We were just in Goose Creek the middle of May anyway Lol.  I just paid off the credit card bills on that May trip, it does add up.   His Power School graduation will be next April and one trip to Goose Creek per year is about right for us.

Thank you Dan's mom.  That makes me feel better about the possibility of not being there.  It would cost quite a bit by the time I paid for gas, hotel, food, etc. and I wasn't sure if this was a big event or just a small ceremony.  I don't think that he'll mind because his new girlfriend will be there, so I don't think he'll miss his mom.  sniffle.

Thanks again for the info.

Congratualtions to you and him, Dolphin!

Is the graduation for A school a big event or something that's low key and not as formal as the Boot Camp PIR graduation?  I'm trying to figure out if I should plan on spending the money to drive down and rent a room.  Thanks for any information that someone can give me.

Does anyone else have an EM at Goose Creek that will be graduating sometime next week?  I think that the date is July 15th?  Please let me know if someone has any info. about that graduation.  When do they find out if they will graduate?  Don't they have to pass the final exam for A school before that graduation, and when is that exam?  Thanks.
