OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

They should pay for the office visit and then the glasses. Not sure how much contacts would be down there, I ordered here and sent them down to them.

Comment by David's Mom on April 6, 2011 at 4:37pm: They pay for eye exam and glasses, but not eye exam for contact, my son just went to Walmart Monday got the eye exam it was $50.00 and they gave him a pair of contact he will be going back on Saturday and can buy his contacts there they are between $18.00 and $23.00 a box

I believe they'll pay for the visit and glasses, but he'd have to pay for contacts on his own.I just had this discussion with Aaron the other night when he said he could barely see out of one eye and had to "cheat" in bootcamp to pass the eye exam. Awesome...

I too, always stop and "look" when I am supposed to be cleaning and getting rid of. Kevin is always after me when I do things like this, I tend to keep too much. :)

Comment by Kris, Stevens mom on April 6, 2011 at 1:51pm: sherri - I think the villas your son is talking about are actual beach "houses" (they look like Villas-just like you'd see in a movie). When I was there last summer we went to Folly Beach & the whole beach & road into the "touristy town" were lined with house, etc that can be rented. They look beautiful & are on the beach but I'm thinking they maybe very pricy.

Comment by DramaboysMom on April 6, 2011 at 1:16pm: Ok... Directionally challenged.... I have the "grid" as my dad and my boys call it, in my head. I can see the map, comes easy for me. I have no sense of Time. None... Hubby has sense of time but can't find his way out of a paper bag. The joke when the boys were little " If mom and dad are driving out of state and Mom is driving and Dad is asleep, we will get there no problem, but not as fast.. Dad is lousy at navigating. If Dad is driving and mom is asleep, we will drive 3 hours fast in the wrong direction."

My hubby even told my dad one time "Listen to your daughter about the directions. She is always right! " I think I have that date stuck in a journal somewhere.... quite a compliment from a man!

Comment by Kat (MM Nuke) on April 5, 2011 at 11:38pm: Sherri, the 2 bedroom villa, on base, cost us $350 for the week. A great deal. If they have something else near the beach, and less money, go for that. Base is nice though, and nice to be so close.
