Ah....Washington....so green...and so gray....
I lived in SW Washington 40 of my 57 years. So lovely, but hubby and I just retired to Maui, still green but soooo much warmer. I would be so great if daughter F someday was stationed at Pearl Harbor. Not too close but not too far away. It’s a long time out though, she’s scheduled to graduate A school first week of March. I’m trying to figure out how to fly from here to there with a stop on the way back to see my parents near Phoenix. Fingers crossed and prayers daily for her and all your family members.

My wife once got a black eye from a similar innocent mishap.  *I* couldn't walk near her in public as you can imagine what everyone assumed, or at least what I assumed they thought as they stared at me, when they saw me walking beside her!

I haven't chimed in for a while.

My son and his gf were home for Christmas, which was really nice. Big news from them: They're engaged!! Though they went to the same high school, they've only been dating about 10 months. I like her, but don't know her very well, yet. They are tentatively planning a spring 2022 wedding, so there's plenty of time.

In other news, I slipped on my threshold last Wednesday, hitting my head *hard* on the doorknob. I instantly had a huge goose egg, which has now settled into a pretty impressive black eye. Luckily it looks worse than it feels. I feel quite self-conscious about it, so have been hanging close to home.

Being a Washington resident for 40 years now I love all the Washington talk. B’sNukeMom - still so glad I got to meet you and do let me know if you’re up this way again. And say, the other nuke mom that met with us just got to take the Tiger cruise on the Lincoln from Hawaii to San Diego. I talked to her briefly about it.

Comment by KayCee on January 29, 2020 at 2:43pm

Oh - and I did love SC and the food too!  I visited four times!

Good morning Ladies!  I have to comment as I live in Western WA.  The hospital where I work actually has a magnificent view of Naval Station Everett and the Puget Sound.  I have been all over the state and each region has it's own, unique qualities and beauty!  I love having so much to do and so much variety so close.

My sailor's orders were to Bremerton in August, but he really hasn't been there much to get to know the area on the Kitsap Peninsula.  He's on his third underway and deploys in the near future.

I'm game to meet up with any of you if you get in the area!

Good morning and happy Wednesday!

My dad lives in a small town in WA and we've visited a couple of times - even got to meet up with ProudOfK ;-D  Never made it to Whidbey Island or Bremerton or Everett but we did visit Snoqualmie Falls and I must say that was beautiful!

Comment by helena2000 on January 29, 2020 at 10:55am

I agree about how lovely western Washington is. I haven't been there in awhile, but I lived on Whidbey Island when I was a teenager, and I met my husband after he was stationed at the Navy base there. Both of my boys were born at the hospital on the base. We enjoyed visiting the Olympic Peninsula and other areas around there. The ferry rides were fun as well. We moved after my husband finished his time in the Navy, and I miss that area.

Comment by Chipmunk on January 29, 2020 at 10:31am

The Hammer - The entire area there is beautiful!  Olympic National Park contains the Hoh Rainforest which I highly recommend. We were out there visiting at the height of the Twilight book series and had to stopped at Forks, WA for lunch and our girls wanted pictures. We never made it to Whidbey Island or able to take a boat cruise. Lots of possibilities for a vacation!
