ShipofDoodles, that is great news!  Something to look forward to.  My SR has his PIR this Friday and then he heads off to Nuke school.  I am so grateful to all of you on this site for all of the great information that you share.  My guess is the packet of info will come sometime in January.  Another language to learn!! lol

The Hammer and kai cat and KayCee - I have sent you all PMs. If you could reply to them when you get a chance that would be great.  KayCee I sent the one to you on messenger.

ShipofDoodles - Thanks for sharing the information with NewJaxMom !!  I hope that things work out for your son to be able to be at the wedding or even in it. Maybe there could be a sort of usher/ groomsman duo role, such that if your son does make it in plenty of time, he could step in and be the groomsman or an usher or an usher opt to vice versa? - Am I making sense?

We had two weddings the summer my son went to BC, the eldest had her wedding before he left for BC, but the 2nd daughter had her wedding the weekend before his PIR and we just knew it was not going to work out but both families were okay with it. It can be more difficult when you are the grooms family! - Hugs!!

My discussion above, explains a lot of information regarding how A school works, including INDOC, Classing Up, Phasing Up. Nuke A school daily schedule - sailor's perspective

Kai Cat - DVIDS stands for Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (www.dvidshub.net) - I believe this is something that is only sent to your sailor - New Check-ins and Contact Information - My son shared the information with me, but I don't believe it is something that I am able to look up. But what I gave you has a search and you can look up their ship and see pictures posted there as well - depending. My son's ship is one of the newest in the fleet, so there has been a lot of posting of pictures since it is out on underways.

Also, there is a thrift store that is run by some of the ladies on the base there that is near NNPTC - It would be a donation and not selling, but he might also see if there is some place to post the information at NNPTC for graduating students.

Good Evening everyone!! I had a 6+ hr drive to my daughter and SIL to see my new grandbaby, so I have been off the site today. Thank you for the congratulations!! Congrates to you also B'sNukeMom.

ShipofDoodles, Yes, I had heard they were sending something out but you are the first to share. Hopefully, other families will be receiving info as well.

KayCee - Sometimes we want to shake sense into our kids, right? - I hope you can get some information. The ombudsmen contact is for immediate family (parents) of single sailors, as well - as I know you are aware.

Saying "Hello" to all.  It's been awhile since I've commented, but I do try to read everything.

Congratulations to Chipmunk, B'sNukeMoM, and soon SailorsLIMom on the new grandbabies.  How exciting!!

The Hammer and kai cat - I am on the west side of Washington and my sailor is stationed out of Bremerton.  He's currently on an underway on the SeaWolf.

ProudOfK - I need to message you to get the fb group for Washington.  My son hasn't shared much and says that the Ombudsmen are for spouses, and since I'm not his spouse, he feels like I don't need the information.  Grrr... So anything I can get, helps.

ShipOfDoodles - that is great they send out info now.  Like JayDee commented, I wish they did that when mine went through too!  Thanks to this group, however - I managed to get through!

ShipOfDoodles - That is great! I wish that we had received a packet like that at the beginning of A school! Glad to see that they are improving communication.

Sorry I forgot to add...if anyone has any other ideas of where to sell the furniture?

Comment by kai cat on December 9, 2019 at 8:30pm

One final comment...my son has furniture available to sell, must sell by December 18, for any group of powerschool kids getting kicked out of beq. He has sofa, loveseat, end tables, lamp, kitchen table, full bed and mattress,  desk.  All for $400 but price very negotiable.  Stuff is in North Charleston. All of it in great condition,  we bought new for him in June 2019.
