Comment by B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet) on September 6, 2019 at 10:39am

Hi all - Happy Friday!  I've got my RED on ;-D

Image result for finally it's friday pictures

NancyJo - glad things are getting back to normal in Charleston.  I've got my fingers crossed the baby waits until you get there - you might have to pack an extra suitcase lol!

Here's the latest update from NPTU regarding Charleston:

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on September 6, 2019 at 8:42am

Well, things are beginning to get back to normal in Charleston. My son's power came on early in the evening. There were a few shingles in his yard but he's waiting for the gusts to stop before he climbs up for a look. People will be returning to base and putting everything back together. He's hoping he doesn't get called in because he's convinced the baby will come this weekend. I hope the baby waits until I get there Tuesday.

Love the picture, B'sNuke! They are such a cute couple!

Chipmunk, so fun to shop for grandbabies! My daughter has been hitting clearance sales for months, not to mention knitting up a storm. She asked if I could carry what she has in my suitcase. Hmmm I think I need another suitcase!

Comment by Chipmunk on September 5, 2019 at 11:26pm

So I just found this note siting in the comment box from what I started to post this morning (Thursday) - oops, I had an important phone call - closed the computer and forgot.

Good morning everyone. I got my walk in but haven't checked the news today. Prayers for everyone on the east coast.

JayDee659 - my thoughts are the same with my sailor. The other day, he said they would make sure the ship was sealed tight. My concern is more for him and his belongings, but they are on extended hours so communication is limited.

Loved the picture ladies!

MTBCHCK - my nephew is in the Army and was at Ft. Jackson for his training. My sister & BIL thought the same thing last year when I told them where my sailor was.

Well I bought every brand of baby wipes and diapers last night - figured my daughter needed the variety to decide which she wanted. That gave me an extra coupon to go with my discount for the other baby shopping that I did today. No, I am not spoiling, I just figured I should use my inheritance on my grandbaby and not just on other bills!

Good night all!

B'sNukeMom - thanks for posting the news article! I spotted the tornado right off! - That is a mixture that I just don't like to see. The engagement picture is beautiful!

JayDee659 - thanks for the Norfolk news. I did hear from my sailor - so all is good. - Also that is a great idea regarding the washing machine!

NancyJo - yes, the fridge and freezer need to stay closed. If I have a chance I will look up the information my husband found when our power was out, as to how long you can expect stuff to stay cold. But for now I am headed to bed.

Too much time on my feet shopping for this new grandbaby, but I had an extra discount!! Thanks Partnerinwine, looking forward to seeing my daughter and SIL and to see how she has grown since May.

KayCee - I will get back with you soon. I know you are busy but it was good to hear from you.

Grandma had an engagement party for the kids while they were here - here's a picture from that:

Great pics B'sNukeMom and NancyJo! Love all the smiles :)

MTBCHCK, my husband enjoyed your post. He's former Navy and Army!

Enjoy the baby shower, Chipmunk!

My Nuke is between A and Power School so he's not affected too much by Dorian. Do they usually get called to help the clean up efforts off base after hurricanes? We lived in Charleston for 3 years in the 90's. I worked at MUSC and the flooding downtown was incredible even without a hurricane offshore. My husband (boyfriend at the time) was in the Navy while we were there and it was always worrisome when they moved his sub out to sea ahead of a storm. Hoping the best for all of your sailors and family!

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on September 5, 2019 at 1:26pm

JayDee, too late for my sailor but a good thought!

B'sNuke, I passed that tidbit about keeping fridge closed on to my son. We have no idea how long they will be without power. Fingers crossed.

Comment by JayDee659 on September 5, 2019 at 1:14pm

I did see a really interesting tip on hurricane preparedness which suggested using your washing machine as a cooler by filling it with ice and beverages/food.  It would theoretically drain automatically as ice melted but keep things cold.  Not helpful if the power is out already but probably worth trying.

Comment by B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet) on September 5, 2019 at 1:09pm

NancyJo - remind them not to open their fridge or freezer!  Hopefully they won't be without power for too long :(  Praying for safety for everyone!
