Hi all - Happy Friday!  I've got my RED on.

Nukelukesmom - that's so exciting!  And beautiful pictures ;-D  I'm so glad it all worked out for them.   Wishing them nothing but the best <3

Mshelle - patience & flexibility you will definitely learn ~ "Semper Gumby"!

Soo gals, I have some big news. After a whirlwind 2 weeks of planning, my son and his lady got married on Wednesday!! Navy life made it happen fast, but we pulled it together and the wedding was small but beautiful. They are back at their duty station this morning and starting their lives together. His bride will begin Nursing school there in January.

Comment by Chipmunk on August 16, 2019 at 8:58am

Mshelle - Sounds like you are figuring this all out! Each stage seems to have its own adjustments. When my son was in A school, I figured out his routine and their schedule, I knew when I could call him, when he had PT and might be back at his BEQ to shower, then after A school he had T-track and I never knew when he was standing watch. He had an issue with his alarm not going off and missing muster once, so I started setting my alarm and calling him. (Honestly, that is about the only time I got very helicopter mommish!) Then Power School (PS) puts them back in more of a structured study schedule, but at Prototype, the hours go all wonky again and that is when you have to wait for them to call you. But be prepared it may be early or late in the evening. I was thankful that my daughter was home as my son tended to call her about 0700 our time to help him stay awake on his drive home. I think I prayed for him more during that time than I did even at BC.

B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN, she is only is only in part 1 of school,  so I am still adjusting to the need for patience and flexibility of military mom life...lol.

Hi y'all. I remember those calls. I had my art store at that time and If I had a friend in the store when they would call, the friend would say, "GO and talk in private, I'll watch your store." It was pretty nice. Love living in a small town where people do that sort of thing. But yes us Mom's live for those calls.

The Alaska twin comes here in December and stays till March 1st. That takes him out of the darkest part of the winter up there. So he is here about 3 months.

Hi all - Happy Thursday!

See the source image

CoTwin - They both look so happy!  Love it ;-D  I have to question it too - leaving AK for a winter in CO? Brrrrrrr I think I'd find somewhere warmer to go lol.  Good thing is you'll be able to enjoy having him around!

MTBCHCK - enjoy your visit!

NancyJo - funny about the due date!

bigsky21 - that's the key - try not to "stress"!  Of course we'll always worry lol.

Mshelle - where is your daughter in the pipeline?

Comment by Chipmunk on August 15, 2019 at 10:17am

CO-Twin - Those pictures are awesome! I love the compare and contrast of them. The kittens are absolutely adorable, if only they would stay little!

MTBCHCK - I so excited for you! Is your son done with A school or PS, I forget?

I had a called from my sailor yesterday afternoon! Thankfully, I had just left the restaurant and able to talk freely. He was sharing with me that their qualifying time in the fleet takes about 2 years, but hopefully it will only be about 20 months so that they can be qualified to do more watches. It is a never ending cycle like you said JayDee659. Each time I hear from him, I gain more perspective.

NancyJo too funny.....I have learned to have a “one day at a time” and “no news is good news” outlook as well! I still worry, that’s just a mom thing, but I try not to stress about it :)

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on August 15, 2019 at 8:26am

COTwin, I'm interested in your AK son coming home for winter? Are we talking the whole winter like splitting the year in half, AK and CO? Or just for a visit? Anyway it will be good to have him home for sure!

B'sNuke, I'm excited too! Not long now!

Moms talking about holds, they can be exasperating. The most important thing I found for myself to accept was that in the civilian world time and space exists differently than in the navy world. On day 1 I looked at what his schedule was and even boot camp turned iffy. What day will he fly out? What airport? How does that work? And it has never changed. It has so completely changed my outlook that I'm not believing their baby will come in September until it happens. ;D
