CO-Twin, I "like" your idea of a like button :))

Mschelle I wouldn't get hung up worrying about proto hold.   My daughter was told that they were looking at an 18 month hold, she started proto almost immediately after Power School.  Anyway, it's good practice for the fleet, stop, go , wait, hurry, sleep, sorry no sleep for you, you'll be home this day, now this day, then that day, now your leave is cancelled.

Mtbchck2...I can't wait to say those words....my daughter is half way there.  As soo many have said before....nuke school is a long journey, especially with the talk of extended hold times for proto.

CO-TwinSalorsMom I hear you - there are many times that I really don't have anything to say other than I like or a appreciate what someone has posted.

Sometimes I wish there was alike Botton on here.  My Alaska boy just finished 6 weeks on a salmon boat and not is working for the lumber mill and doing some construction. When winter starts he will be coming down here.

I just want to remind everyone that it's that time of year when parents are sending their kids off to college.  Let's be mindful of how they are feeling - we all know it's not the same as sending a child off to the military or on deployment - but they will still miss their kids.  I've done both and been happy and sad (and happy) again for them.  We know it's different and that's why we are here for each other - Navy momma's gotta stick together.  Be supportive and then come here for Navy support!

Hi all - It's Wednesday (and I'm still upright lol! feeling a little better each day).

See the source image

Hedgehogs are so cute but I never thought of them as a pet lol.

CoTwin - exciting news for your ex-nuke - sounds like a wonderful plan.  How's the AK son doing?

NancyJo - definitely a good reminder that anything can happen at any given time!  That had to cause some serious stress for a lot of sailors (and their families).  I can't even imagine......I'm counting down the days my friend until I'm in NE!!!  Our plan is to arrive late evening on the 26th so sometime that week we can get together.  Also with Wink5.

Comment by Chipmunk on August 14, 2019 at 11:05am

JayDee - When we lived in WA, I met an English lady who had hedgehogs. They were cute as anything but I think I still prefer cats.

NancyJo - Thanks for sharing your SIL's story. It is a good reminder for us to help our sailors plan and prepare for their underways and deployments.

CO-Twin - All the best to your son as he continues to move forward with his education and career goals!

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on August 14, 2019 at 10:15am

My SIL was on a 2-wk underway off the coast of CA when 9/11 happened. The ship turned immediately and headed for the Persian Gulf. Needs of the Navy, always. That caused a lot of panic for sailors who didn't do things like plan on rent getting paid, or utilities, or where to store their cars for 6 months. They are told when you are going on an underway always plan for the worst.
