I am having flash back to boot camp. I am flying out of Chicago. The look of shock when asked which airport.

JayDee659 thank you for posting the D-Day video link, I shared it with my family. Today marks the 4th anniversary of my father's passing. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corps, although he was just out of high school and never served overseas, somehow his passing will always seem to me a tribute to his fellow serviceman. I never really knew much about his service time, like many, he didn't talk about it. When I was a teenager, I found his service picture in a glass frame and behind it was a newspaper clipping, that told about him taking the Air Corps test amongst several in SE KS and he had the highest score!  My Nuke takes after his grandfathers and great-grandfathers.

To all headed to graduation, I second what Chipmunk said about getting there early....the line of cars on Red Bank Rd gets REALLY long...I feel bad for the sailors trying to get to work on graduation days!!!

BZ graduates!

Kbpoohbear - your sailor should contact you this evening with specifics, but I would just plan to be at NNPTC around 0700 and make sure you have your ID. It may be later, but better early than late. Our PS graduation was inside due to rain and split between two times, so listen to what your sailor says as where to go, and not anyone standing around that might look official, but still won't have a clue!!

Inside the security gate, they will need to check you off the list. They use to send out invitations for PS graduation, but not sure if they still do or not. The traffic can be extra busy when there is a PS and an A school graduation on the same day.

So. Kinda crazy but sitting in the airport waiting for final leg and realize, I have no idea what time Power School graduation is? Is there a page that talks about it?

Comment by Chipmunk on June 6, 2019 at 12:14pm

The Hammer - I added some comments in Sightseeing In Charleston. Market St and Church Street have lots of things to go in and see, even if it is raining. If there for awhile, I would find a parking garage, also watch the streets for flooding. Great food, ice cream, art galleries, shops.

Kerriknowz - we take every opportunity we can to see our sailor and I have attended all of his graduations. This is as much a good thing for them to have us there as it is for us to be there. My sailor doesn't want his schedule to burden anyone else and so never expects us to attend, and flying home for 2 Thanksgivings and even their short time at Christmas last year (was in Prototype), is just not worth it to make him spend an entire day in flight, practically.

ProudParent - I had to chuckle, my kids don't want stuff, but I finally inherited furniture and things I wanted from my parents, and then extra bonus of items from my aunt and uncle who were childless. So, instead of downsizing, we are looking to increase our house size, especially for our family legacy library collection.

The Hammer - I will try to post some comments in our Charleston discussion and bump it forward. Shower bursts are common this time of year, and it will be sunny one minute and pouring the next, if I recall correctly from my sailor.

ProudofK - glad your sailor is close. I recall you sharing about the flight home and the ill effects of the trip.

JayDee thank you for posting this.

Very moving. Makes me think I should write a special letter to my sailor today thanking him for all he's doing.

I don't write enough letters in this day of technology and I think I should, for both our sakes.

God Bless those who served and those who are serving today.

Not sure if this link will work, this this is a neat DDay video that the Navy posted on their FB page.
