beachlover0214 - how fun that you are close enough to pop over for quick visits to GC.  I'm sure your sailor really appreciates that too!  Enjoy your visit.

I bumped the sightseeing in Charleston discussion up above. If you are downtown try to get by Charleston House of Jerky - it's owned by a former nuke and his wife.

Thanks for the reminder, B'sNuke. Never forget!

Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices. Because of these sacrifices, the dawn of justice and freedom throughout the world slowly casts its gleam across the horizon. - President Harry S. Truman 1945

The Hammer - we have visited our sailor a few times. The market, the aquarium and the Provost dungeon in downtown Charleston are indoors (for the most part). If you get a dry day the shops on Folley Beach are fun - Snapper Jack's restaurant is really good by the way. We toured a couple different historical sights, Fort Moultrie and Fort Sumter. One of our most enjoyable memories was hanging out with our sailor and watching Star Wars marathon one super rainy day. I hope you have a wonderful visit!

Kerriknowz we have been fortunate enough to attend every graduation. Everyone should go (if time and money allow)  as our time with our sailors is very limited. Take advantage of every opportunity you can!

The Hammer - we really enjoyed the Carraige ride tour. Not sure what it would be like in the rain but the do have a roof. Also the Harbour tour.

My husband and I will celebrate 23 years of marriage this fall. We live in eastern N.C. and recently downsized. We will downsize again in a few years when I retire from teaching. It is refreshing to get rid of stuff that you thought family might want. They really don't!  :) I'm not keeping stuff anymore.

We have two boys and our oldest is our sailor. We had no clue that he wanted to join the military. It came as a total shock but after one semester at a university he came home and said he wasn't going back and he was joining the Navy. So far it seems to have been a really good decision. He knew he needed some structure and loves his country deeply so this seemed like a good idea to him. He qualified last week and we are looking forward to attending Prototype graduation at the end of June.

Our youngest in still in high school and doesn't seem to be interested in the military. He still doesn't know what he wants to do after school. He has time so we aren't concerned.

This site has been really helpful to me. When my sailor starts talking about certain things it feels good to have an idea of what he is talking about. I have appreciated having a heads up on what to expect. PowerSchool was so difficult but reading that Prototype could be easier for some sailors gave me hope that things would get better. It did! He qualified much sooner than expected and has a few weeks to have an easier schedule. We are looking forward to seeing what his duty station will be.

Kerriknowz we went to the A school graduation and I'm glad that we were able to attend. Our sailor kept saying not to come that no one comes and it isn't a big deal but it was really nice. It was indoors and you are able to get great photographs. We also attended PowerSchool which was outside and much larger and we are looking forward to attending Prototype in a few weeks.

B'sNukeMom, N wants a sub....he's cautiously optimistic because most of the surface orders are out and he doesn't have any yet. Gives me a funny feeling thinking about him getting his orders....things are about to get real!

Kerriknowz - I went to A school grad; it was a smaller ceremony than power school but I'm glad I went.

The Hammer, we enjoyed the Market in Charleston. It's under roof.
