BZ Chipmunk! Enjoy your time with your NUKE!!

Comment by Chipmunk on April 17, 2019 at 10:58am

I called my husband who is at work - he got all choked up. Said he didn't expect to get so emotional. Now my son is trying to find out if he is even going to be able to spend time with us this weekend or not, or if he has to work. Also, they had to bump up the PFA for this class to get theirs in, but it will still be after graduation.

Thanks for all of the well wishes. Momterp and I have been conversing. Guess our sailors know each other so that is neat!

ProudofK!  - that is neat!

NNLori - I had flipped over to read this message when my son called! So awesome! - More later to you and KayCee.

To all of my friends, I will try to catch up later - but it is definitely focus time on packing and last minute details here.

Chipmunk, BZ to your Nuke!  Where are his orders for?

Comment by B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet) on April 17, 2019 at 10:41am

Hi all - Happy Wednesday!

Chipmunk - what a wonderful call to receive this morning!  BZ to your nuke!  Now exhale lol!

CoTwin - That's awesome that your son will have some of his boatmates as roommates and college mates!  I'm telling you, they definitely make lifelong friends.

ProudOfK - small world indeed!  Glad they were able to connect up again ;-D

I got home from work yesterday and had a nice surprise, flowers from my future daughter-in-love "just because".  She's so sweet - really made me smile.  B is one lucky guy!

So momterp and Chipmunk - do you both have proto grad in GC on Friday?  Hopefully you can meet up and say hi and take a picture!  Enjoy!

I just got the "I'm qualified" call from a very emotional son!! Still conversing with him.

Comment by NNLori on April 17, 2019 at 9:57am

So much great new here!!!

Congratulations to everyone who graduated Power School last Friday!! It's such a huge accomplishment!! Bravo Zulu!!

Co-TwinSailorsMom- So happy for you to have your son close. Best of luck to him as he pursues his education. I have a question regarding our Nukes getting out. Is there an option to stay in the reserves. I've not heard of anyone doing that so I've been wondering if that is an option. If anyone knows anything about that I'd be interested to know.

Momterp- Congratulation on your son passing his Oral Boards!! Another amazing mile stone! Best of luck as moves to the next step.

ProudofK- Wow!! What a story! I love it! Some people we are just meant to be in out lives. I think these two are meant to stay in touch.

pandalvr- congratulation!! Will he be on hold for Prototype? I've been hearing that the Sailors coming up from Power School have been put on hold for possibly 7-9 months! Is this true?

MoMom- Oh my goodness. How scary!! I'm so happy to hear your son has recovered!! That is a Moms worst nightmare isn't it??? So blessed that he has recovered and is moving on. Best of luck to him as he finally gets to his duty station.

I wanted to give an update on my son's journey!! He is in Prototype, with expected graduation date in June. The next class after Chipmunk's son who is graduating on Friday. Congratulations by the way!!! I sent you a private message. :)) Anyway, my son sent me a text saying "I shut down the real boat today. First time shinning real rods. I shut down a nuclear reactor. Crazy!!" I think even he is in awe of what he is doing!! He did very well on his watch and was told he will be standing watch  with 2 officers (0-5) that have their final watch boards this week. Such an amazing experience!!  This process definitely has it's ups and down. The downs are rough but the highs are amazing!! So exciting for what he is getting to experience being part of the greatest Navy in the world.

Have a great Wednesday everyone and if I don't get back here please have a Blessed Easter!! BNMH'S to all my sea sisters.

Kerriknowz, my son got married while he was in power school. My first grandchild was born as my son was in the middle of ELT training. Eight years and two more children later, they are still going strong. My son is definitely a family man so I think being married and having children actually helped him.
