For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

It was only 24 hours, but we made the most of it. How is it possible this kid will be 20 years old tomorrow? Time sure flies! Since we had an early dinner, we will be staying in and relaxing this year on Thanksgiving Day.

I mentioned before that it will be just my hubby, my mom and myself and we made reservations at Claim Jumper - looking forward to it. B and his GF (they are in MI) are having her mom over for dinner. Our youngest is spending the day with his GF and her family.

Jen - 3B'smom gave you good advice. Have your son talk to his SLPO before he heads home for Christmas so he has everything approved.

RebeccaJ - what a wonderful present for you! Happy belated birthday ;-D And BZ to your son too lol!

Chipmunk - just remind him that it is a "dream" sheet and it doesn't always work out ~ Needs of the Navy! And remember there are more carriers in Norfolk than anywhere else so a lot of the surface nukes will end up there.

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on November 19, 2018 at 10:00am: Chipmunk, where the carriers are all based is common knowledge. You can get that on Wikipedia among other sources. Their movements are not common knowledge. We can say that the Ford in based out of Norfolk. Every carrier has a fairly unique plant so I would suggest your son talk to other sailors and inquire about their plants and what is desirable about each. That is what my sailor did. He ended up requesting the Vinson out of San Diego and was lucky enough to get that. I don't remember his second choice carrier but I remember it would have been in Washington.

Could you ask the nuke/navy moms what homeport I should ask for if I want to go to the U.S.S Ford? And then what would be the best ports for 2nd pick?
