COTwin, it's great how often good things come from changes that aren't always so easy. It might have been hard to say goodbye to the old family home but there's that silver lining. How's the new job going?

Love the pic, B'sNuke. Both cuties.

Countdown begun to go visit my nuke. Three days!

What a sweet picture. Is that a basset?

When my son left for Charleston, out house went up for sale. It sold after a year. It was hard to pack up that room and put it all in storage. New family there now with little kids which was nice for the house. It is a good family house.

Most of their friends are on this side of the state now so they actually like visiting me in my new house.

Welcome buffalosailor!  I see your son is in proto in NY.  What's his anticipated grad date?

My son & his GF are puppy sitting for a friend while she's on an underway.  His GF sent me this picture of him yesterday.  He was taking the puppy out for a potty break & the ground was hot so he carried her.  Too cute!

Hi all - Happy Tuesday!

Buzzbeck - oh yeah I feel your pain too. I've done Deadman's Pass in Mammoth a few times (also at 10,000+ft) and I thought I was going to die literally! First time I did it they had to drag my sorry a** up lol!  I only walked it but my kids who were in cross country at the time ran it! It's been a few years now and I definitely have no desire to do that again.  I'm going to use the "sorry, no can do, I need a chit" excuse if ever asked again lol!

PacNWmom - sorry you are missing your sailor today :(  Sending extra NMH's your way!

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on August 16, 2016 at 9:31am

PacNWmom, so hard to miss our sailors. I too just wish he would come home but also know that he is doing something so important. Isn't it amazing to know what your offspring is capable of? Lightyears from potty training and thinking we walk on water. It's OK to keep that room ready for him; he'll be back. Plus it sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy. Hang in there, Sea Sister.

Mountain climbing and motorcycles? You women are intrepid. But after all, you are moms of United States sailors. Those sailors get that chutzpah from somewhere!

Comment by PacNWmom on August 16, 2016 at 12:18am

I'm having one of those "missing my sailor extra-much" days today.

I have 3 housemates these days, including my oldest kiddo (24). The one who was living in my Sailor's room moved out today. As a result, that room is completely empty for the first time since we moved to this house 17+ years ago. It's hitting me all over again that he's 3000 miles away. It's hard to believe he's the little boy who helped us house-hunt by using every toilet in every house we looked at (nobody says no to a kid who's newly potty trained!). Now he's proudly training to serve his country, getting great grades in arguably the toughest program in the country.

Missing him terribly and at the same time so-so-so proud!

Buzzbeck, Oh I can just feel your pain.  What we won't do for our kids!!!  Chit  is  Voucher, receipt, letter, or note, entitling the bearer to special  permission

Comment by Buzzbeck on August 15, 2016 at 10:55pm

OK, this is not Olympics related either. Last week our daughter asks our visiting sailor to accompany her on a hike on one of our local peaks (10,000 ft). He says NO, he probably needs a "chit" to do anything crazy like that. Like MN Mom's son, my daughter says "Mom you should do it with me!". And like MN Mom I did go but it was CRAZY to do so. Well, she made it to the top, I did not. Everyone else up there was younger than 30, I should have known better. I could not walk for a week.

I need to learn to just say NO.

So, what is a "chit"? When do you need one?
