In listening to you ladies discuss mail I'm wondering I'd this is a male/female issue. My daughter has no issues getting her mail. If I'm sending her something special I ship it UPS and text her ahead of time with the arrival date. When I get the "delivered " notification from UPS I text her the tracking number and she goes to get it. We've sent her some non essential items and it may take her a day or so to go get it but she never has any issues.

Johanna - We did the same thing for our son.  We put the items that he asked for in the trunk of his car (plus a few extra surprises).  We met him halfway between our home and Goose Creek.  We also put some items in our car.  But, space is limited when he was in the barracks so we couldn't bring too much!  He never seemed to have time in A school or Power School to get to the mail room when it was open.  One of his friends opened a post office box and picked up mail there instead.  The Mom who lives by Goose Creek is a big help too.  I think the reason my sailor didn't want me to go that route is because of the photo!   I can't even get photos now that he is in an apartment waiting to start prototype!!!  Good luck.

Johanna,
That's a great idea to bring it up with his car!  I was attempting to be thoughtful and send him high protein snacks for Valentine's Day.
There is also a Mom who lives by Goose Creek who receives packages, and then makes arrangements with the Sailors to deliver them at odd hours.  She even takes a photo of them with the package.  However, my son would NOT be happy if I took this route.
I'm beginning to think regular mail and gift cards may be the way to go.

Pooh'smom, The last thing those poor kids have time for is to go pick up all the care packages that we send to them. I actually ended up bringing everything in the back of his car when we drove down to get the car to him and handed it to him...that was the only time he ever got anything from us. It's not that they don't want to get there, but they are studying from sunup to sundown and if they have any free time they will go to get something to eat before they go pick up their mail...;))

My MM is in A School and he's having difficulty making it to the mail room to pick up packages.

Anyone else having that problem?

I keep Netflix streaming cause my two sailors can access it and all 3 of us use it for $8 a month.

If you want some good jerky try the Charleston House of Jerky.....it's owned by a former nuke & his wife.  I sent some to my son when he was deployed & he said everyone loved it.

I know when my sailor was in boot camp, they watched all kinds of military movies like Hunt for Red October, stuff like that. They do like to get food packages. The food they get from the navy isn't always the tastiest. They like hot sauce and seasoning, jerkey and cookies, and also foods they can microwave.

SanDiego_Mom, that so creative! Those are just the things that help those sailors de-stress. Well done! Meanwhile, I never heard of Death Wish coffee but it sounds like my kind of beverage!
